Can't be done, as they were sold here by Mazda.
No chance - unlike all previous Evos (which were brought in under SEVS by Mitsubishi themselves), the Evo 9 is a full-release vehicle, and therefore can't be imported under SEVS.
They can be done but they were LHD only, meaning they'd need to be converted during compliance, making them a poor choice from a business perspective. If you're really keen and are prepared to pay accordingly, I could do it and it'd take about 12 months at least.
working on a mag article to show you ill post it when i find one.

I suspect only the turbo models would be eligible under power/weight regs, so it's a matter of convincing a workshop to spend the money necessary to get them approved for import. Better chance with a C35 Laurel...

The model prior to this is actually eligible now - someone got plates just in the last week or so. I suspect this model would also be eligible, but again, it depends on whether it makes a good business case for a compliance workshop. Leave it with me

They were bought in under CPA and can be brought in under RAWS but the one person with emissions never went ahead with RAWS (lives in Perth and I know him) plus the are not cheap at all and rare.

Here's the deal, ask in here what it is and I'll tell you whether or not your chances are good for meeting SEVS criteria. If it is, you need to find a magazine article on it IN STANDARD FORM - if you can do that, then we can apply for it to be eligible under SEVS. The magazine can be from anywhere.
So ask away and let's see what other interesting cars we can get listed.
Hi Chef, ive pretty much registered here in search of advice and guidance in getting evo 3 on the SEVS registry and am willing to do wat ever is needed.
so i guess first of all is it possible to get evo 3 on the list
also i have printed off the application form for the register and am wondering about several questions on the application form.. Question 11, about the original manufacturer advising the administrator on wether it plans to supply the vehicle under full volume in aus...., how do u find this out or do i just write YES?/it wud go without saying since its not in production?
with satisfying the criteria in circular 0-2-12 table 1, 2 0f 4 being needed to be satisfied, what do u reccomend in satsifying this? performance over 105kw/tonne is satisfied then i guess another could be finding an article tho that'll be a search for an EVO III article - any advice on finding that would be appreciated.
Once on the register do you know what happens with RAWS/ can it be complied straight away by for example an authorised evo 5,6, workshop?
any advice and help is greatly appreciated!! ThAnKs

What do you meen? was it the actual evo 3 and was it sold in australia in full volume?
evo 6-8 is on the sevs list n theyve been sold in aus too?
im wondering why they can be there but not the 3 also what makes it not eligible just because it was sold here? the form just asks for wether it was sold in the last 18months here or world wide which it isnt. and its not on the non-eligible list.
do you know wat the process is from when a form is completed and handed in, do they contact when theyve reached a decision and how is the decision reached? like by a panel or is it investigated or?

Hi again chef, i was looking into what you said about the evo 3 being sold as the same model, did u mean as the GSR? i believe the gsr is actually based on the evo1 but please correct me if im wrong..
The GSR has the frame/model code CD5A and the evo 1 has a similar code CD9A while the evo 2 and 3 are the CE9A frame. The main thing tho that leads me to believe the GSR is a different model to the evo 3 (and also 2) is because the GSR and EVO 1 wheel base is 2500mm while evo 2 and 3 wheel base is 2510mm meaning that the chassis has been redesigned doesnt it?
