Really, I have tried it before when I couldn't get low enough and noticed it really hit my quads more. I decided to just go lighter and stretch myself out with the weight on my back. Can you box squat lower?

Keep persisting without the block Chris, your going to have to squat without it sooner or later.Wear a pair of your Airforce boots, they should have a nice high heel on them,or get some weightlifting shoes.

What model GTR are you getting,R33 I assume.

I'll give them a go in my boots, that could work. Yeah I bought the R33 GTR in my avatar but looks like it wont be registered for another 8 weeks. Hows yours going? Has the T88 or whatever massive turbo it was gone on yet?

Yeah, did a soft tune, the spark keeps blowing out, closed the gaps on the plugs as much as we could. At 20 psi it made 420rwkw,I have ordered a HKS DLI twin spark unit, should be able to wind some boost into it,around 27psi with 100 octane V power Racing.

I was running 22psi with my HKS 2530's,made 370rwkw with them, hope to see upwards of 450rwkw with 27psi,the turbo is hardly working at 20psi.The knock meter on the Power FC has only recorded a max figure of 13

Either way,the car is very very fast.

You will find that the boots will help heaps.

Squatted without the block under my heels and I could only go to about 5cm above parallel but the squats felt good and easy, having your whole foot in contact with the ground lets you transfer the power better. Powercleans this session were pretty tough, I rekon ill fail on the last set in 2 or 3 sessions time. Good news is I could barely feel anything in my shoulder so hopefully next session its 100%, keeping my elbows tucked in at the end of a powerclean and while holding the weight at the start of the jerk helped alot.

The 150kg squat felt pretty easy and im starting to go lower now, almost able to go as low as with the block. 100kg powerclean equals my pb and it felt like about 90-95% effort but i feel like shit after watching those pyrros dima's video's, i cant move 80kg as fast as he moves 150kg lol.

New PB and record for the powerclean board. I decided to throw in some bench and curls because I hadn't done them in over 2 months, I've lost a fair bit of strength in the bench and was struggling with 110kg x 5. My younger bro and a mate were training as well, there 20 and 19 years old. My bro at 83-84kg pushed out 125kg x 4 on the bench and my mate at 92kg pushed 135kg x 4, crazy thing is my mate has only been training for the last 10 weeks after 4 months off and has only been doing hi rep work for endurance, he's a freak, at 17 he was 5ft 11 - 96kg and benched 140kg x 4 with no spot, best genetics I personally know of god help everyone if he ever hits the juice lol.

Mon 8.1.07

I decided to go for 1RM's in the squat, powerclean and jerk.

Squat-

60kg x 10
100kg x 5
140kg x 3
150kg x 1
160kg x 1
170kg x 1
175kg x 1

Powerclean-

60kg x 8
70kg x 5
80kg x 3
90kg x 1
100kg x 1
105kg x 1
110kg x 1 - miss
107.5kg x 1 - miss

I couldn't go for a 1RM in the jerk because my shoulder was hurting from the cleans but after doing 95kg easily the previous workout I rekon 115-120kg would be on the cards.

Bench-

80kg x 5
90kg x 5
100kg x 5
110kg x 3

DL-

100kg x 10
120kg x 5
140kg x 3
160kg x 3
170kg x 3

Deadlift- 5x3 170kg

BB curl- 5x5 50kg

Bench- 5x5 105kg

Powerclean-

5 x 60kg
4 x 70kg
3 x 80kg

The cleans were meant to be 5x5 with 75-80kg but i was struggling with the 80kg x 3, I think I use my biceps way too much in cleans and it showed here with my bi's being fuked from the curls and in return me not being able to powerclean for shit.

Seriously man, I fail to believe you can't do full squats. I was the same, I thought I would never EVER be able to do full squats as I could hardly go anywhere without a block but now I can do pretty much rock bottom squats.

If you can lift enormous amounts of weight I believe you can conquer this as well!!!!

How did you go from nothing to rock bottom squats? what did you do or change that enabled you to do them? for me its flexibility that stops me. My hips, back and lower calf muscle dont stretch enough, even if I hold onto something and squat down as low as I can I only go less than 10cm past parallel and as soon as I let go I fall over backwards.

I could barely squat down to parrallel until i found out that it was no where near low enough. So i just dropped the weight right down to about 60% of what i was doing before & just went for depth more than going for continous pb's.

Have you tried dropping the weight down & just aiming for depth?

The heavier I go the lower I can go... when there's light weight on there its not enough to get my muscles to stretch.

Chris, read my post in Ghosty's thread.

I can fix you if you are broken

You are squatting down, not back. You are not an accordion.

There is no less flexible human being than me on this planet  I full squat.

If you come to the strongman I will help you easily.

I angle my feet out, probably a bit more than I should but I will hopefully bring them in more and more as I continue to increase flexibility. But I just practiced, standing at home or at work. If no-one is watching just practice the movement until you can do it. No weight just stretching out and getting used to it. No doubt you have it harder but I reckon you can do it :)

remember ass goes out behind you when you go down

m&m i was speaking with my lady physio chick today, she was telling me i need to practice activating my intra-abdominal muscles otherwise i'm gonna hurt myself one day....

1. how do i do this.

2. does my body already do this automatcially without me thinking or knowing i'm doing it?

3. she said breathing on the working part of the movement is old-school and bad cos it pushes the pelvic floor out which leads to hernia/prolapsed bow one day when you go too heavy or not recovered and train again etc. Instead she says I want to be breathing in when I'm doing the work part of the movement, now this completely baffled me so I'm gonna ignore it and see what you have to say.

Thanks,
:)

Chris, get a 12" box,put 60kg on the bar,sit down on the f**king box, stand up,repeat. The box will teach you how to sit back.Dont tell me you cant stand up with 60kg on your back, even if you freefall onto the box,you will learn how to squat,it has never failed me,the only people who cant do it are the ones that have too large an ego and refuse to lighten the bar, only ever one person,he is in denial, please try and learn to squat properly.A 12" box is not too low,its just past parralel,I dont even have one that high in my gym.
