Fabricating suspension arms, uprights, crossmembers

I have an old 60s Datsun that I want to put Silvia running gear in, that part will be pretty easy but then I want to make sure the brakes steering and suspension are up to scratch. I thought about transplanting the rear subframe, diff, and the whole works and the front subframe (such as it is) with the suspension as well but the car it is going into has a narrower track (by a fair way, I haven't measured it in detail yet) so that got me thinking.
Would it be easier in the long run to fabricate what is needed? I'm thinking yes. Then it would need to be engineered properly for rego. I've seen magazines with drag car setups for 4 and 5 bar rear links with solid axles, I've seen complete drop-in front ends for the volume market American cars and more recently for the Aussie muscle car scene like this one http://www.rodshop.com.au/IFS.htm and so I'm after recommendations / suggestions for people who could do this work for me up to and including designing and fabricating a whole new chassis. The vehicle in question is body on chassis (basic ladder frame) which shouldn't be to hard to duplicate as long as we hit all the original mounting points. I could help with the design but I'm no expert in that area.
I am TAFE trained as a welder in the past, have worked a 3 phase stick welder with all sized rods up to 4 mm in mild and stainless steels up to an inch thick, so I'm conversant with the theory of metals as applied to welding but haven't picked up a stick since last century, I won't be doing any of the work myself but I am a very picky bastard and the end product will have to be pretty good.
So yeah, hoping this is the right place, I have been looking around for about a year on the net but can't find what I want in one place. I also know it's going to be expensive but I believe the project will be worth it in the long run. A reputable proven fabricator with runs on the board, preferably in NSW, is what I'm looking for. If you have any experiences that you want to share - good or bad - about going down the same road I would love to hear about them. What sayest ye all ?
