Body Kits
Evo 7 only has normal AYC whereas Evo 8 & 9 have Super AYC
Evo 9 has Mivec
Evo 7 & ADM Evo 8 GSR's only have 5 Speeds( May be wrong ) whereas JDM 8's,8 MR's and all 9's ( apart from the RS ) have the 6 Speed
Evo 9 has a larger turbo than the others

There is plenty more but off the top of my head thats all I can think of in this heat.

Theres a yellow 7 on another EVO forum which has had the bumpers converted to EVO 9 ones, along with a nice GT wing.

I guess a 7 with a 9 kit is a poor mans EVO 9 right? :huh: But 7's are still the best haha.

EVO 7,8,9 spec guide

All FQ cars are sold exclusively as UK only official cars, they are in fact special editions created by Colt cars in the UK. Colt has created the FQ range to separate their cars from Grey imports and provide more variety to the range of Evos they offer.

All FQ cars start as imported GSR's and are modified by various agents of Colt cars after they have been SVA'd (compliance) and registered in the UK.

The modifications are quite mild, generally consisting of styling or interior upgrades, boost increases, aftermarket exhaust and filter and a boost or ECU upgrade.

Evo 7 FQ-300 Mod: Exhaust & Air Filter Power: 224 KW
Evo 8 FQ-300 Mod: Exhaust & Air Filter Power: 224 KW
Evo 8 FQ 330 Mod: HKS Exhaust & Air Filter & ECU Chip Power: 246 KW

Evo 8 MR FQ-300 Mod: HKS Exhaust & Air Filter Power: 227 KW
Evo 8 MR FQ-320 Mod: HKS Exhaust & Air Filter Power: 243 KW
Evo 8 MR FQ-340 Mod: HKS Exhaust & Air Filter & ECU Chip Power: 257 KW

Evo 9 FQ-300 Mod: HKS Exhaust & Air Filter Power: 227 KW
Evo 9 FQ-320 Mod: HKS Exhaust & Air Filter Power: 243 KW
Evo 9 FQ-340 Mod: HKS Exhaust & Air Filter & ECU Chip Power: 257 KW
Evo 9 FQ-360 Mod: HKS Exhaust, Air Filter upgraded Fuel Pump & EcuTek remap Power: 273 KW

Evolution 8 FQ-400

The one FQ model that stands aprt from the rest of the FQ range is the FQ-400 and deserves a sparate mention. The FQ-400 is again a Colt Cars UK limited edition, but has extensive engine, braking and styling modifications. It was built to celebrate 30 years of Colt Cars selling Mitsubishi's in the UK and was limited to 100 model.

The FQ-40 cost $46,999 UK dollar and delivered 405bhp = 302KW @ 6,400rpm and 355lb/ft @5,500rpm. 0 - 60 was 3.5 seconds, 0 - 100 9.1 seconds and top speed was 175mph = 281km/h

apart from cosmetic differences....

evo 7 has
AYC
5 speed box
Turbo = TD05HR-16G6-9.8T (GSR)

Evolution 7 GTA
AYC
Auto box
Turbo = TD05-15GK2-9.0T

evo 8 (GSR)
AYC
JDM: 6 speed box
AUS: 5 speed box
Turbo = TD05HR-16G6-9.8T (GSR)

Evo 8 MR
SAYC
bilstein dampers
aluminium roof
6 speed box (i think)
Turbo = TD05HR-16G6-10.5T or TD05HRA-16G6-10.5T (Ti Alloy option)

Evo 9
SAYC
Aluminium Roof
6 speed box
Same turbo as 8 mr, but i think with a revised turbine - made from a different material and a revised compressor housing. Maybe.
MIVEC

Also some other little things like
The evo 7 only has 1 cat, where i think the 9 has 2. Not sure about the 8's
The AUS 9 GSR is lighter than the AUS 8 GSR by about 60kg or something. Lighter than the jap 8 gsr too, but about the same as the 8 mr... maybe?
The 9 has different recaros with leather trim (or at least all the ones i've seen have)
The 8 MR has a better blow off valve than the 8 and 9 GSR (metal as opposed to plastic)
The JDM 8 has automatically retractable mirrors whereas the AUS one doesn't (dunno about 9)
The JDM 8 has climate control and i believe the AUS 8 does not (but the 9 does i think)

plus there are RS models with slightly different turbos again, and less trim

i'd say you could rate it like this from best to 'worst' (where worst is still awesome)

Evo 9 -> Evo 8 MR -> Evo 8 GSR (JDM) -> Evo 8 GSR (AUS) -> Evo 7
