yeah but the realy problem im having is there is two different sized input bearings on the pinion one big and one small and i need the big one and i cant for the life of me work out whitch diffs / cars had the big cone and whitch ones has the small cone 0_o

means i cant just go grab a 32 or CA r200 and move everything across.

im kinda stuck with this set up as its actually a nismo gtr centre in my housing with GTR driveshafts and hubs

what i get for building a car out of whatever was on the shelf spec

im already 4.3 but i busted my pinion

that would work too but i still dont know if it has the large front pinion bearing

have you got nissan fast? can you look up CA GTST and 33 auto 33 see if there is a part number for the input shaft or if its just hey dumbass buy a new diff

so i've joined the 4.3 diff club so thought i'd pass on some useful info

my existing diff in my s15 was an r200 3.6 with a mech 2 way lsd [with abs sensor]
got an r200 r33 auto diff [4.363 non abs]
swapped the crown wheel and pinion gear from the r33 with my s15 CWP
i now have the same gear ratio [4.363] speed is out by about 20%, (80km/h = 100km/h displayed on cluster) but kept my original r200 abs housing and 2 way lsd

now to my beleif, if i used an r33 abs r200 with 4.363 ratio, my speedo reading would be correct, but i chose not to do that because i wanted to keep my mech 2 way
so i now will be making up a speedo signal corrector with a kit you can get from jaycar, or for those with no soldering skills or electronic knowledge, you can buy these already built from other places

hope that info helps someone out

Or for those with s13/180sx there is a speedo potentiometer at the rear of the gauge cluster you can adjust with a small screwdriver to correct speed.

The Jaycar kits aren't bad, but you have to like soldering. It's a big unit too, put one in an Rx7 series 7 and the box (universal) is ~18cm x 7cm x 5cm from memory.

very usefull info indeed. I have just changed my diff. I have gone from stock ADM s14 3.6 to an alledged jap import s14 1.5 way 4.11. (so I was told by jap wrecker) on my Iphone it shows 100 kph when my speedo is doing 120kph about 3100 to 3200 rpm from memory.

So what your saying is I can take apart my dash and adjust my speedo with a screw driver ??

Think it's only on the s13/180sx dash, don't know about the s14.

Biggie: Not sure about big or small input shafts, but just swap the whole housing over with centre in it and you'll be right. R32 gtst non-abs 5 bolt bolts straight up to 180sx, why muck around with rack and pinions and crown bolts when it's a straight swap?

its not a straight swap when your using a GTR centre... that's when you need to mess around with the crown bolts and things

bingo. best bet is to just buy a whole housing with crown and pinion etc in 4.3 and swap out you own centre into the new housing as its almost impossible to match up the different bearing types. my diff ids all back and together and rocking again ended up buying a 32 gtst 4.3 in housing and swapping my set up across into the gtst housing not vice versa

edit: it would seem that the GTR crown bolts and the 32 gtst are same same sizing

Hey guys, seems like the right place for my question regarding my diff so Im not starting another diff thread! -

Ive got an ADM s14 with the 3.69 diff and its pretty much open so Im on the hunt for a 2 way but also liking the idea of going to a higher ratio. My car is fairly stock for power (its not a stocker though, lots spent on handling setup ;) ) is the higher ratio still going to be a good thing? If I can find a diff with a 4+:1 ratio from something like a JDM s14 or R33, am I able to use just the ring and pinion gears from that on a new 2way in my cars normal r200 housing? will it all fit without a prob?

I know just getting a complete unit and replacing is what a lot of people seem to do but my reasoning is if I end up with an R33 diff, just using the gears means I won't have to change drive shafts/flanges? I can buy a 2way to fit my current unit and if for some reason the 4+ ratio doesn't do it for me I can go back to the 3.69 by just changing the gears back?

any thoughts on what way I should tackle this would be appreciated.

Not sure about the opinions and gears so I'll leave that for someone else.
But if you get an R33 r200 you will need to get the halfshafts from an r33 as the s14 diff has the 6 bolt flange for the halfshafts, whereas the R33 has the 5 bolt flange.
Apparently the 5 bolt design is fair stronger which is why I opted for that rather than swapping out the centers.

I got my 2 way from a r32. Went for the 5 bolt shafts too. All I had to do was change half shafts and the backing plate on the diff. Was easy as.

Hi Guys , I have a 96 R33 GTS25T manual non ABS and I'd like to go the other way as in to 3.9 or 3.7 .
I take it the larger front mounting "ears" on the diffs nose was for rubber bushes which S14 S15 and R33s use ? The smal bolt hole ones are from R32 RB20 and S13s ?

The major drama could be that drivers side half shaft adapter in the pic above , ones stub shaft is longer than the other and I'm not sure if this is the same with 3.7 and 3.9 from S14s vs 4.1 from R33 . Is the longer stub type a viscous LSD thing right across the R200 range ?

Cheers Adrian .

Hey guys,

I've aquired an R33 GTR diff (4.11) and the associated 6 bolt half-shafts, axles and hubs. From what I have read this should all bolt into the an S15 - however there seems to be a challenge with respect to the ABS sesnsor (which is also the speedo source in the S15 - not gearbox)

The R33 GTR rear diff has two ABS sensors, one for each half shaft, which then merges into a single harness plug. The S15 diff on the other hand has a single ABS sensor on the front pinion with single harness plug.

To be very clear - all I am looking to achieve here is the installation of a 4.11 diff ratio, GTR 6 bolt half-shafts, axels and hubs while retaining the S15 ABS/speedo.

I think there are two potential options for this situation, but need confirmation:

1) Take the R33 GTR diff internals and adapt it to the S15 diff housing, along with 6 bolt half shafts
2) Forget the R33 GTR diff, and get a R33 GTST Series II ABS diff (4.11 w/single front ABS sensor). If I go down this path I would want to know if the 6 bolt R33 GTR half shafts can be fitted in as they are thicker than other Nissan offerings.

Any insight around this, or an alternatives are very welcome Posted Image

how do i go about getting my speedo reading correctly since getting a jap diff in my adm s14?

is it as simple as swapping the speed sensor in the gearbox with one from a jdm s14?

i have this same situation at the moment, i have been told the sensor on gearbox's are the same, so it must be the cluster that is different?

I just bought 4.6 diff gears with no center. Was going to take it to a diff shop so the back lash is set right would they have the different sized bolts if it needs them ? I'm running a s14 turbo manual diff ATM
