Whats happened to hip hop? everything i hear now is auto tune "RnB" in the words of Wu Tang Rap n Bullshit...

Aussie hip hop seems to be where its at now for decent music... but what around thats recent aside from the Aus hip hop thread?

What are all the Hip Hop heads listening to now?
big fan of the old school.. think MF Doom, original Nas, Wu Tang, Jurassic 5, Tribe Called Quest etc etc

whats around or has it all turned to crap

what it comes down to, is most artists these day haven't got alot of talent.. (im not sure about aussie hip-hop though, never really got into it)

its 10 times easier to make a beat and add all that electronic shit, thats why most of them do it these days

im a big fan of the old school stuff as well. new stuff, been listening to wiz khalifa lately. ahuh you know what it is

Listen to Tyler the creator, lyrics are pretty f**ked up but pretty much the only newish stuff I'm into ATM, big Sean, Mac miller & wiz kalifa are alright too IMO

No Offense, i used to be a HUUGGGEE Hip Hopper.

Rap ain't the same as it used to be.

Everything, you name it, its been rapped about - all the new shit is gay.

As Nas says, Hip Hop is Dead.

to a point I agree ACE
but have a listen to a lot of the real hip hop, J 5 etc... a lot of its more story telling than rapping about what they have how good they are etc...

real rap and real hip hop is story telling, no 2 days in life are the same for no 2 people so stories should be running plenty. Especially with a lot of the Aus stuff.... TZU killed it before they broke up... just rapping about day to day life and struggles etc
Sooooo over the I'm a gangsta type crap that has been so played out.

Very true - J5 i.e Remember his Name (listened to today :P)

If a story is told in a rap song its xmas, not just:

Im better than you - my flows spit hoes, spit venom on you
Im intellectual, only stuff like this is seen in history books
wow - that last line rhymed,
wait didn't someone sing this time after time,
get to the back of the line
you're the one stopping well before the stop sign

etc etc hahah
