Is a turbo of this size worth getting in t4 twin scroll over the standard t28 flange size.
T4 is a 0.80 A/R, will it make a decent power differance higher in the rpm band?
Seems there is around $600 differance between the t4 and the t28.

I'd go the 6758. That should do 300kw on e85.

6258 is a bit small. Sw1fty went from a 6258 to 6758 and there wasn't much difference in 'lag'.

What're you goals?
Quote

ColS15's Photo ColS15 31 Oct 2016

Goal is to have a sr20 that is actually drivable.
I'm not power hungry and i dont like lag.
I currently have the old pon cam gt2871r set up making 250kw atw p98.
I was looking at the 6758 too, not sure if it comes in a twin scroll.
Quote

nicknack's Photo nicknack 31 Oct 2016

It's the same frame as the 6258 and 7163 so uses the same housings as far as I'm aware. 6758 with poncams would be about the most drivable 300kw sr20 combo there is. Anything smaller with fall short

Sorry.. the same supplier does list a 6758 t4 twin scroll, 6258 and 6758 being near enough the same price.
Fullrace want around $1500 for one of their t4 top mount manifolds.. surely a 6boost manifold would have to be cheaper than that, also need a dump pipe but I'll probably fab up that and the intake.

I dont suppose you have a ve head laying around your garage leftover from you sr20 days?

The Big Fist's Photo The Big Fist 31 Oct 2016

Message PJ Quick Bits if you are chasing a ve head.
There's a guy in NZ who makes top mount manifolds for EFR. Mate just got one for his rb26. Sinco I think they are called.

Mattsx's Photo Mattsx 31 Oct 2016

Sourced my VE head through PJ Quick Bits, currently awaiting my Hypertune intake/exhaust manifolds, other good options would be 6Boobs and MXP/SME? I think they're the same mob.

I've got a p12 VE head if any one is interested
$2k

go 7163, you have VCT.
Quote

ru55kj's Photo ru55kj 31 Oct 2016

Why don't you mount any of these on stock manifold?
Quote

nicknack's Photo nicknack 31 Oct 2016

If you goal is >330kw I'd go 7163.

If it's 300kw with no desire to push more I'd go 6758. Depends if you want headroom and how much.

The 7163 has some newer tech over the 6758 like the mixed flow turbine which helps with response. Big fist can probably comment on how the 7163 drives down low as mine isn't a particularly good comparison haha.

VE head, I'd be going straight for a 7163. Very good match for stock t28 torque <3k but double the power potential and an extra 2000rpm.
Quote

ColS15's Photo ColS15 31 Oct 2016

No 7163 for me. . Or ve head,
I'm still running the standard 6mt.
I figure if it gets to the point where I'm going to do a head swap or change from the 6mt I'll sell the car, I'll buy another skyline.
Thanks for the info The big fist, i just had a look at Sinco's site.
I think I'll go down the 6758 and flex fuel route.
What size bosch injectors are the stainless ones that don't clog up?

I'm also interested in purchasing a 6578. I've been told on a T25 flange, you can bolt it up to the standard manifold.

I called GCG turbos today, there asking for $2524 for either the 6258 or 6578 in T25.

I saw one on gumtree for less than that and I think it was new and had some extras.

If there's a couple of you after turbos, the guy Nick and I got ours through may be able to do you a deal.
We got ours for a good price but the dollar was better.
The 7163 is fricken awesome and mine is no where near sorted yet.

too small on a VCT motor, go bigger.

If you can afford a proper twin scroll setup straight up go for a 7163.

oh yeah trak-life has a GCG account :)

PM me, I am able to get you guys better deals.

T4 6758 is the best possible solution for response and preservation of factory driveline IMO. It'd be my choice if cost wasn't an issue

Thanks Tom...
6758 t4 is defiantly the way I'm going to go.
Anyone interested in purchasing a slightly used gt2871r? Ha ha....

6258 t25

Or Performanceworld1 has them on ebay for $2500 delivered

May be cheaper to buy+get delivered from the states.

Dose Pipe Sutututu's Photo Dose Pipe Sutututu 02 Nov 2016

Soo.. Colin is right, cheaper to get it from the states and send it over.. I was getting him prices this morning and my prices are still more than getting it from the states.

I can speak to my guy in the states about getting some sort of group buy happening. Who would be interested
Quote

ru55kj's Photo ru55kj 02 Nov 2016

I might be interested. Just depends how much cheaper it actually is.

There is one on eBay for about 2100 delivered + import taxes

I just bought a 6758 t4 this afternon for $2200 postage included. That's cheaper than anywhere else i could find, although it is a german based company.
I have a e-mail address for the employee i contacted, he speaks English. Pm me if you require it.

They'll probably get you to pay $200 more in import taxes

Sorry to thread hi jack but I was looking up these turbos on gcg's website then started looking at Garrett gtx turbos as I was thinking of getting a gtx2863 for my 180sx and they are saying they are soon to be discontinued. Anyone know what they are going to be replaced with?

All the current gtx28's are being discontinued in favour of their new gen 2 gtx28 lineup which only offers the gtx2860 and gtx2867, just look at the garret website. Apparently they've been redesigned for more power so no need for all the variants I guess.

Guessing by how little information available on these GEN2 turbos they don't have anything revolutionary new comparing to the previous ones.
