So the 2016 Australian Supersprint Championships at Winton have been run and won. Congrats to Duncan Forrest in his Stohr WF1.
The event attracted 138 entrants, and there were some fast lap times recorded over the 2 days. In fact the top 3 outright competitors set unofficial lap records!
I managed to be first in class, but there was only one other car to beat, so it sounds better than it really is.
Track density was high and it was extremely difficult to get a clear lap without traffic.
My best lap time recorded on natsoft was 1:31.2. This was good enough for me to qualify into the top ten outright and take part in the top ten shootout on Sunday afternoon.

With clear track and good opportunity I laid down my fastest lap of the weekend with a 1:30.3. Unfortunately the times from this session aren't included in the final results.
Great track and top weekend! I enjoyed learning the circuit and giving it a red hot go.

Pic below. more to be added soon.

Went out to SMSP GP circuit on Sunday 15/5/16 for round 2 of the NSW Supersprint Champs and recorded a new PB of 1:41.6. Was 8th overall fastest time, 3rd in class.
2 cars in my class who beat me, 1 Porsche GT3 Cup Car, 1 Porsche GT3 RSR. Some guys are keen to splash cash on expensive cars to win a supersprint nowadays.
There was even a GT3 spec Lambo Gallardo there!

Set my fastest lap on the last lap of the day, good to go home on a high. I think I can get down to 1:40's with a bit more practice. But I think I have few issues and might be out of action for few months now.

Anyway, some pics of the epic cars and my S13.

Top effort, it's amazing how much some people spend and an old silvia still keeps up with them.

nice work, just goes to show the little s13 with the right mods can still hang in there with much more expensive cars

Thanks guys, I think it's impressive too, Silvia's rock!!!
In one session, I couldn't help but smile when I caught up to a black GT2 and a red GT3. They held me up for a lap as I didn't have enough hp to take them on the straights.
I'd say it would have been too embarrassing for them to allow a silvia past them!

Not much activity on this website anymore. Seems facebook and social media is more favoured! I'm old school and still love the old forums :)
I normally don't like providing any updates without photo's (remember pics or ban?), but I have some important updates happening at the moment.

This morning I dropped the Silvia into Denstoj Auto Centre for some work to be done. Since the E85 conversion it has been difficult to start. Dennis at Denstoj (legend) has already found some issues with low fuel pressure and the fuel pump wiring. Also will be getting a Tomei metal head gasket and ARP head studs fitted.
Want to make sure it can run at least 22psi (maybe more) all day long.

Then it will be off to Premier Exhaust to replace the side pipe exhaust with a new tucked-up high, full length exhaust. This will give me room to make a flat floor and install a rear diffuser.

Can't wait - exciting times. Will post pics once progress is made.

I can't wait for it to be all done!!!! :P

Mine was pretty hard to start after converting too, especially at temperatures below zero!

Exhaust completed, much more clearance now.

The car is a little quieter and sounds better, not so much like a tractor anymore lol.

I didn’t go too fancy as I didn’t change the dump and front pipe. Turns out these parts aren’t 3 inch anyhow, apparently only 2.75 inch. I’d only change these if I went bigger turbo with external gate etc.

So no v-bands, just bolted it up to the existing flange off the front pipe.
The most angle in the system is 20 degrees and it’s all at the back to keep it up high.

Time to start messing about with under car aero now. Can't wait!! YEOWW!!!

I'll talk to my sponsor, Bunnings, about some sweet aero parts for you ;)

Oh man you have a Bunnings sponsorship??? So jealous! I have to pay out of pocket at Bunnings for all of my aero and general raw materials.

I scored some old signs at work from a defunct distributor. I'm going to use them for my flat floor. They are made of that alucobond stuff. Nothing beats free stuff.

I need to take the Silvia off the trailer and get set up. Then I can take some photo's and post them up.

Very keen to see how you go with the Alucobond, it was too expensive for my first effort prototype.

Progress is slow, but I have added more brackets. Settled on position and I fabricated a side mounting plate also.
It should look mad once all painted and fitted up.

Revised splitter, flat floor and rear diffuser all finished.
Tested it as SMSP GP circuit at NSW Supersprint with encouraging results.
I need to strengthen the mounts. So much downforce! Didn't expect it to work so good!

Nice. Got any pics from underneath?
What did you make the false floor with?
