best place to start would be vicdrift website or facebook page if your in victoria. Primal garage and wodonga car club use to do a few club days when I lived down there.

car requirements would be no oil leaks, runs well, fire extinguisher, all roadworthy kind of stuff is working ie- lights, seatbelts, brakes
generally a cams level 2 speed licence will you cover for majority of events

Check out Driving sports on facebook if you're in NSW. They host skid pan days so lots of space to drift on a wet skid pan.

You'll need to join a club (may as well join them for better event prices) and a cams L2S license.

LSD, coil overs and practice will get you started.

Rip the handbrake and pop the clutch is a pretty good start
