Just get someone to modify the exhaust so it suits the car better.

Depending on how much work is involved it might be easier to start fresh from nothing which is what I would prefer to do

Couldn't be that much work in making it fit better. Got to be cheaper then fabricating a full exhaust. I'd rather not do them at all exhaust fab is crap lol

Cutting and shutting an existing exhaust would cost more than starting fresh. A sad fact of fabrication.

Performance Exhaust in Northmead. I think he would suggest a complete new system though.

Getting back to the oval exhaust theme, I've been thinking of this for ages, good info and theory in this thread, thanks guys. The first thing that started my interest in an oval exhaust system was the Moonface dump pipe. On my sil80 I just used 3" and bashed the floor pan up to accommodate.
Here's the Moonface dump pipe:

It's said that even just the oval dump pipe chamber like the Moonface dump pipe gives the note a distinct sound, is this true?

May have went a bit overboard on hanger mounts...

I'm not sure if it only the old twin tip varex had it but mine had small baffles in the tip looks to neck down to 2inch just check yours before you put it in
I just heated the tips on mine and the baffles came loose and I bent them smaller till it came out
1 tip I didn't remove the baffle cause it's the quiet side and the pipe in its smaller anyway but the other tip goes straight to the valve

Exhaust is now finished. Went from having about 65mm ground clearance with the trust pe2 to having 135mm with the custom jobby.
Ended up making a new strap for the muffler hanger as the one supplied was stainless which I cannot weld. It didn't even really fit properly.

65mm clearance to 135mm is a big difference
Just goes to show how much difference there is if u make some thing on the car compared to buying some thing in a kit
Piecing an exhaust system together on the car always fits so much better

Yeah I know you can but the strap supplied didn't fit real well so I thought I would start over and make it all out of mild steel.

What about sound on all of these exhausts? 3" mild and 3" aluminium exhausts sound different so if it's that sensitive wouldn't oval shape create something different?

Aluminium exhaust?? I don't think so.
