  1. amp install issues

Nothing specific I can recommend, but I remember the first time I did an amp install, the ground from the amp that I bolted to the car was poor, because I did not remove enough paint off the body where I connected it, and it did not work. All I can suggest is check the earth from the amp.
  2. I have done a search, but my problems are so random I'm not sure what to search for really. It started when I was fiddling with the harness off the back of the head unit. I think I was taking a voltage measurement, and could have shorted one of the cables to ground. I heard the typical pop of a fuse, and all the related interior electrics went out (interior+map lights, radio, mirror controls, not sure what else. 12V plug and glovebox light both still work.). Then, a couple of days/weeks later after getting into the car, the 'door open' light instead of switching off when i closed the door, it started pulsating from off to dim. If I opened the door, it would switch back on. Then, within a few days, it stayed on no matter what. Then a week or two later started functioning properly, and has ever since. Cluster backlight sometimes (1 in 20-50 times maybe) doesn't switch on when headlights are switched on, but, whenever this happens, it starts working after less than 5 mins. Also, clock switches off (backlight stays on but numbers go out) everytime i key off, or everytime a door is opened, then resets back to 01:00 once i key back on or close the door... I have checked fuses and all seem to be intact, not sure where to look next... Any ideas?
  3. Hit and run on my car

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, will report back if anything significant happens. PS I did not realise this when i posted initially, but i remembered parking my car out the front of my house, however, in the morning it was parked outside the neighbour's house... sigh FML
  4. Hit and run on my car

I think that picture is crap, so you can't see it very well, but I'm pretty sure it was a high speed impact, i was parked about 10 cm away from the gutter, now my rear wheel is up against it, and my front wheels have a tiny bit of lock on. Also there are bits of plastic from the lights, on my roof, in front of my car, on the grass, and I even found a couple of pieces like 10 m down the street in front of my car...
  5. Hit and run on my car

Sigh.. it was my pride and joy for 6 years... my first car... the love of my life... can't deal with it right now, but I am going to have a look later to see if I can fix it. maybe weld in a new quarter, just pull out the boot floor a bit... and yeh...
  6. Hit and run on my car

This sounds like a good idea, I think I will go for a scout around later in the area, but I'm not holding out much hope. Also, I have started calling smash repairers in the area asking if they have had anything that matches the limited description of the car that I have at the moment.
  7. Hit and run on my car

' hmmm... how do you figure? by write off i mean 'cut my losses' .... and buy a new car
  8. Hit and run on my car

Hi guys. So someone did a hit and run on my car. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for what I can do. I tried the police, they said unless I have an eye witness, or surveillance footage, the I shouldn't bother with a report. I found a somewhat-intact piece of the other car's headlight reflector, and there are, of course, heaps of other pieces of mine and the other car all over the road. I do not have insurance. Which means I think I will have to write off the car myself.. and buy a new one... I have narrowed it down that it happened somewhere between 5 and 6:30am today. Also, thinking it might be a local, as I live down a street off a main road, that would not be used by any one other than residents. Edit: I have spoken to some people and they seem to think that there are a fair few people using our street to cut through somewhere. So maybe scrap that. Aside from walking around my area looking for damaged cars, Any suggestions? Thanks in advance guys, just so gutted at the moment...
  9. Phuket/Thailand

Don't know if I have already mentioned this in this thread, but of all the places I have been to in Thailand (Phuket, Bangkokx2, Koh Samuix2, Koh Phanganx2, Ao Nang, Koh Phi Phi and possibly a few others), Phuket would have to be the least interesting and least fun. I don't think I would ever go back there, but I will be definitely be going back to Thailand again this year, because the rest of Thailand was a blast! I find, Phuket (Patong) is exactly what you are trying to get away from. It is just hektik bars, with people trying to drag you in, hektik nightlife, I just felt I had to be on my toes the whole time. Did not really enjoy my time there. Koh Samui on the other hand, Chaweng beach has really awesome chilled out bars with sheesha pipes, fire twirlers etc, and the street has absolutely awesome pumping, loud, nightclubs (Green Mango!!! and Soundclub?). There are also some regular sit-down bars in between. During the day time at Patong, if you want to go to the beach, you have to deal with more people trying to sell you sun beds. We just went for a nice walk along the beach to have a look, and got interrupted by these people every 3 minutes. And then if you want to have a lie down on the beach, good luck finding somewhere where there isn't a sun bed, or someone else that has found somewhere to lie down. Just not a relaxing atmosphere. Chaweng? None of this. AWESOME beaches, and they are free (kinda like in australia, where you just go down to the beach and lie down)! Much better. And I think the beaches themselves are nicer too. Thoughts anyone?

  11. any original ns.coms still here?

i remember that guy! he used to come to the the NISMU meets, pretty sure he had a wife and kids, and that was back in 06.... wouldn't be surprised if he actually, just maybe grew up, a few years later
  12. any original ns.coms still here?

haha, deej, you were like a celebrity to me! i remember when i went to look at buying a part, back in 06 maybe, at this guy's warehouse, and your (defected?) car was there, and I felt like i was meeting a celebrity! or rather, his car, but really the car, had as much celebrity status as you did, to me anyway... haha..
  13. Problems editing metadata on MP3s

Now I have found some further problems, Some MP3s have their metadata correct (namely artist and title) in Windows Explorer, but then the artist does not come up in iTunes, however the title does...
  14. Replacing Crankshaft

I will be doing the rebuild, but it will be the first time I will be doing one... and of course, have to start somewhere don't I
  15. Problems editing metadata on MP3s

Wasn't sure if this should go into off-topic or here, as I assume a lot of musos here would have a bit of IT knowledge too. I have been searching the web for a resolution to my issue but it is proving difficult to find it. Best I have done is found other people with the same problem... Anyway, Basically, I have two computers, a 4 year old notebook laptop, with Vista Premium, that I still use, and a 2 month old netbook with Windows 7 Starter. I like to keep all my MP3s perfectly organised, so what I do is edit the metadata on the Vista laptop. VERY rarely (maybe on two files that I have ever had) I am not able to enter the metadata. If I go into the details tab, the information boxes are not selectable for editing. In one instance, I moved one of these files into another folder, and just thought, bugger it, I will try one more time. And it worked, I was able to edit it! Anyway, I moved all my music from my laptop to my netbook, and I have noticed that for a number of select files (including the one mentioned above), I have lost their metadata, and as in the case above I cannot edit them. The interesting thing here is though, when I add these songs to itunes, it is like the metadata is still there, everything is displayed perfectly, I can edit it, anything I want. Now, if I select the file in Windows Explorer, the file information (metadata) appears at the bottom, and all the fields are empty, this time however, it allows me to select each field to edit, but once I enter anything, and hit enter, this message appears: "An unexpected error is keeping you from applying properties to the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use this error code ...... etc etc Error 0x8007000D: The data is invalid." I have searched online for this error, and have managed to find someone with the same issue, but with no resolution. Please help!!
