Timetable 8:00AM - Gates open 8:15AM - Scruternering opens, driver registration opens 9:00AM - Complusory Drivers briefing 9:15AM - On track 12:30PM - Lunch 1:30PM - On track 4:30PM - Kidney bean course 5:00PM - Event finish Some more info: A good chance to perfect your skills such as when you clutch kick and how hard you need to yank the handbrake to get a certain amount of angle. The only requirement is that its rwd, and can be a dead stock auto if you want. Its about learning how to drive with what you have and figuring out what that next mod should be The instructors will be going in the car with you to advise what needs to be done and a cage is not required given the low speed of the classes. We will be using 3 areas at DECA, one is the large polished concrete area which will not be wet down as its quite slippery. The second area is the rough paddock which will be used for handbrake classes. The 3rd is a burnout pad. The polished concrete needs very little power and the handbrake section jus needs you to get to 30kph and then different degrees of how hard you pull the handbrake. So its not very demanding on the car Exhaust cant be 100mm past the rear bar, so 2inchs is fine Yes you can bring pit crew, but limited to 2 per driver. Gold coin donation for pit crew lunch as entry covers only for the driver. Back paddock is still bitumen but is not smooth. It is not dirt We suggest you bring another set of tyres if you are planning to drive up, if you are towing up then the one pair will last you all day. Its mainly the handbrake classes in the rough paddock that will chew through tyres. The main area is polished concrete and you'll blow your radiator before your tyres lol Media Accreditation can be found here: http://www.vicdrift.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1139 All Scrutinering Guidelines can be found here: http://www.vicdrift.com/site/yearly-events/downloaddocuments
  11. This is the drift scene

I think VicDrift works because its a part time thing. All the board members do it for the love of it. We are not employed by VicDrift and nor is VicDrift a company set up for profit. We do it for the love of the sport. We are in no way perfect and there is heaps we could improve on but one step at a time. I think that if VicDrift were to turn into a business and people employed by the company relied on there being profit at every event then it could go downhill. Just my personal view though. Who knows maybe it could be even better with at least one person being paid to work on it full time but the club would rather reinvest its profits back into the club and do bigger and better events. Although would be nice to get paid for the crazy hours we do sometimes. I think Drift Attack last yr i had a total of 4hrs sleep in a 48hr period
  12. This is the drift scene

Ill be honest i speed read through that, prob took in about 60% of what was said although reading 100% of what Mez, Stewy and Hawkins said. I keep typing what i want to say and delete it again, im lost for words, so many thoughts. Dont know what is more important to say so im going to just dot point it Mez, i agree with you, the culture of drift is changing. whether for the good or bad i dont know. Someone said it best that drift has Left win and right win, one for professionalism and one for Fun. Can you have both i dont know. Do you want to have both, i dont know if it can be done. I have a lot of respect for Andrew Hawkins, Amy Boatwright and Ian. Though none of them may get along and they may not be perfect, I respect them for their passion, their take on the sport and what they have done for the sport, what they have tried to achieve. At the same token, i equally as much respect those who do it purely for the fun of it, regardless of what is being dicated in the scene like Mez, the tuffcore guys in Vic, the HnR crew, Mez, Stewy. I luv these guys for their passion and for the simple truth that drift is about fun. I agree also that the worst thing about drifting is the drifters. When i first started in VicDrift my focus was about making the events fun and catering to the grass roots guys, i dropped the series in the first yr and did just one comp. Fast forward to 2012 my focus is now on a series and drift attack. Supreme Caravans Drift Attack on Sept 29/30 at Calder Park - shameless plug i know. But my focus hasnt changed for the sport, its still about the fun and the grass roots. I want to see more ppl having fun. I love that drift is a sport that can be free from limitations and be bound by them at the same time. I cant remember the last time i was at an event where the dad went out for a fang in one session, comes in changes tyres and then his son goes out for a fang in the next session. Or that guys are building cars for their missus and hes in the passenger seat teaching her to have a thrash. i love it and hate it at the same time. I love it for the mates and associations i have formed in the last 5yrs but hate that so many are quick to point and judge. Yeh we all make mistakes, yeh some of us can be annoying, yeh some of talk crap. SO WHAT ! Cant we just put aside our achievements and/or position on this self imposed hierachy and just work together ? Who cares who was first, who cares who is the biggest, who cares whos been the longest running. Just RESPECT each other and appreciate them for their values, don’t try to force your own agenda/opinoin and just WORK TOGETHER. Ill leave you with this one line that i always say to people that dont know much about the sport “Drifting is a sport of mateship, its not about who is the fastest, its not racing against the clock. No other sport encourages you to be door to door with your mate, rub panels, and have a laugh at the same time” I truly hope for the future of this sport, that people can put aside their issues and past interactions and work together. Because i dont think Australia can take the failure of another national series because i personnaly think that without a national series the grass roots stuff has an expiration date. And i dont ever want it to stop......
