  1. adz and hoomy: is the turbo u speak about with the .64 internal gate housing? peakin: Yes the turbo is responsive but looking for a bit more kw and the gt3071r is the next size up. I'm pretty sure I will buy this turbo But say I put a hks gt2835 ext gate, t2 flanged, .61 rear housing on it, will the turbo make more power and response as the turbine is cast for this turbine, not a machined out gt28 int gate rear housing?
  2. I am currentley running 52 trim gt2871r which is really the next size down from the gt3071r, makes 220 rwkw, uses the same compressor as gt3071r but less efficient with gt28 turbine
  3. hey fanta, was there much difference at all between response and horsepower between the 2 rear housings? (.64 t2 internal gate compared to .63 t3 external gate).
  4. thinking of buying a gt3071r with .64 internal gate rear housing. the 84 trim. Did a search and alot of people bag this turbo with the machined out gt28 housing, has anyone actually owned this turbo and can comment on it (lag, power, etc) with the internal gate housing? It will be going on a ca18det
  5. reason I went to 56 instead of 52 trim is because I'm going hi mount, don't want a 2 bolt flanged t28 looking compressor housing in highmount config, that would look uber gay, have seen some pretty good results with 56 trim gt2871r on sr20det making 250rwkw plus, I think I'm gonna go .86 trim as the revs will be quite high and will try to reduce back pressure, have also been told the only time you would use a gt30 frame turbine would be on a dedicated drag car, even with the .63 housing it is a LAG MONSTER.
  6. I have recently run in my ca18det motor with forged internals and poncam on inlet (256 deg 8.5mm lift ) and a lash procam (260 deg 8.8mm lift) standard head etc. I have just bought a 6 boost manifold and am setting up ext gate, I now have gt28rs with .64 ex housing and standard manifold, the thing is hell responsive but I am chasing numbers hopefully without sacrificing too much driveability. I know i should be happy as the car has been dynoed at 300rwhp on hubs which is pretty impressive for ca, I have both .64 and .86 exhaust housings that will have the int gate welded shut, what have people been running with similar setup and what power figures have they made, it's a big step up in compressor with the same turbine, what exh housing should I use??? the thing can rev to 8500 reliably as it was built for this, any help would be much appreciated
  7. that makes sense. only problem I have now is that the turbo came with a 16psi actuator. might try and get one off a gt28r and modify the rod. the last thing i want is a lazy motor
  8. thanks every1 for your input. I will eventually take out the engine in it now and and put all the goodies on forged engine. I will then set the ecu accordingly, start it up for a couple of seconds so I know every thing is ok then get it towed to tuner and let them run the engine in. better to be safe then sorry. cheers guys
  9. I do have a controller but am not familiar with power fc's. so if I reset ecu and reprogram for z32 and 550cc inj. it will be ok? is there a turbo selection on the power fc unit?
  10. no need to be a smart ass sam. of course I am not going to run engine in on unknown map. I was talking more about the cams in a fresh engine as from what I've heard, you need to run the cams in first then the rings. it will be run in on dyno regardless. but want to make sure cams will be ok.
  11. I have a forged ca that has just been built. I have some tomei cams that had done around 2000kms before I put them in, also has different hydraulic lifters to the engine that the cams were in. has a gt28rs and 550cc injectors, z32 etc. I also have a power fc that has an unknown tune in it. what's the best way to run this engine in. option 1: put all the good gear (except cams) in running engine, get that tuned for mods, then put forged motor in with cams and do the usual run in process or option 2: just put all the goodies on new forged engine, get it towed to tuner and get them to do a run in tune an then run the engine in. what's the best option????
