  4. sr20 head rebuild

    You are correct that the s14 and later are different but s13 is the same
  5. I have been doing a rebuild on my s13 red top sr20det and found 3 cracks between the plug hole and valve seat on no1 cylinder also the quench pads are pitted very badly on all cylinders. Anyway, i am currently disassembling an sr20de s13 head as a doner. People have always told me that the exhaust valves are different i.e. sodium filled exhaust on DET's and not on the DE. Turns out that the head is EXACTLY the same in every way. You can go and confirm yourself with nissan fast. Same valves, guides, seats. Cams and springs are different but that is all. Another thing i found is that the exhaust guides of both engines are completely worn way beyond the factory limits. sr20det has about 150,000K and de has 200,000K My machinist said this was rare for sr20's but id like to hear from anyone here who knows of worn factory guides. I have supertech ex valves and guides on the way to go in. Let me know if im wrong but i cant see any difference in the head castings, valves or valve seats.

  7. Getting a bore and hone soon and possibly some head work. Has anyone used Martins in wollongong. Can anyone recommend an experienced and quality machinist around the wollongong area for sr20 work.
  8. Engine cut when drifting

    Hard to say if it is running out of fuel or an ecu fuel cut. It has only happened in 4th gear after holding it flat for a while in the other 3 gears. Has happened at EC into the 3rd last corner and more recently into the kink and down the back s bend at wakefield. I watched the afr go to 22 when it was happening. I have cleaned the lift pump and it flows 1L in 15 seconds now. Next time i go to the track i'll log it and see what is happening. Pump is still OK just had to clean the gauze strainer to unblock it again. I am in the process of cleaning the tank out to see if it stops it happening again.

    Stalls and leans out. Just checked pump flows. Lift pump (Bosch 040) 59.2 seconds to fill 1L and main pump (Bosch 044) 15.5 seconds to fill 1L seems like the surge tank is fully draining and starving the fuel.

    It's still doing it at wakefield. Holding it flat 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th into the long track then kick it at the kink and it cuts out. It seems like the surge tank is being emptied quicker than the lift pump can fill it. Im going to pull out all the gear and have a good clean and look. I have had issues in the past with a blocked 040 from crud in the tank when the baffle fell off inside and scraped all crap off the tank ended up blocking the pump.

    How long is the M16 thread into the rack on these?? My brother is getting some and we have some 7mm washers to put on them if the thread is long enough

    Hard to test if that is the issue on the road. I'll have to take my computer next time and datalog and try mimic what happened.

    All the wiring is ok, might be a plug somewhere or possibly the speed cut. I did correct my speedo when i installed the Z32 box so that could be the problem. Just spent the last couple of days finding shims and pieces of smashed rockers through my engine.
