Hey all, I felt the need to make a thread relating to seat swaps between models covering silvia and skyline,(considering theres a thread about it twice a week!) so here goes. just so you know i have fitted s13 s14 s15 and r32 gtr seats in all silvias SILVIAS,200SX'S,180SX'S,240SX'S It is 100% fact that the front seats of all these models from 1988-2002 covering S13/S14/S15 all interchange. The rear seats of an S14/S15 are 100% interchangable. I believe that with out too much brain power anyone can make later model seats fit in the s13 SILVIA only however the other model rear seats DO NOT go into the 180sx(hatchback). SEAT RAILS s13 seat rails CAN NOT be used on s14/s15 seats and vice versa what this means is that you cant take an s13 rail and bolt it to an s14/s15 seat and you cant bolt an s14/s15 seat rail to an s13 seat they will all bolt into the different models but you cant interchange the rails between the seats SKYLINES R32 R33 R34 GTS GTS-T GT-T & GTR It is 100% fact that all skyline coupe & sedan front seats are interchangeable from 1988-2004(or when ever the last r34 was made) the front seats of the skyline sedans are all interchangeable the rears are model specific. and you CANNOT put skyline coupe seats into a skyline sedan they are much narrower and the back rest is alot shorter in the coupes! SKYLINE SEATS IN A SILVIA It is possible to fit any model skyline seats in any model 'S' chassis, the seats all bolt in place perfectly using skyline seat rails 3out of the 4 bolts the tabs in question that DO NOT line up using the skyline seat rail are: on the passenger side the rear left"foot/bracket"(if you sitting in the seat) on the drivers side the front right "foot/tab"(if your sitting in the seat) the simple solution i found when installing gtr seats in my s14 was to "butcher" one of my passenger side s14 rails i simply cut off both mounting tabs and welded them onto the skyline rails (extending the lenth of both tabs)i then gave them a quick squirt with some black paint and bolted the seats in perfectly. ***however after much debate it seems that the standard skyline rails will bolt in fine to the tunnel side(of the drivers seat), but either way works when bolting the other rail into the drivers side you can choose to extend the front tab or the rear tab dependant on the amount of seat travel you desire. CEFIRO A31/C33 front seats bolt into skylines and vice-versa, R32 (not sure about R33) rears bolt into the rear of the A31/C33, but the seat cushion is narrower, so there will be a small gap down the sides. NOTE: dont forget to take the seat belt plugs off the "old" seats and transfer them onto the "new" seats and plug in the seat belt sensor otherwise you will have the red light on the dash all the time. please pin this thread! peace

(we all know it aint happening anytime soon!) dont go too far fetched try keep it as realistic as possible, ill start by listing some dream/realisic expections for a new S16 I.M.O it should be : * be RWD Front engined * remain a 4cyl turbo * open to a capacity increrase (SR24VET) around 240kw (if gtr and Z can do it so can we) * gt2871r turbo or similar* keep weight below 1300kgs-1400kgs * competition mode traction control and launch control * 5***** ancap saftey rating(insurance purposes) 6 airbags dynamic stability control that can be switched to competition mode for the track * still have 4 seat configuration * 6 speed manual * 18x9.5 rear &18x9 front wheels * 4piston front and atleast 2piston rear brakes * price tag under $50,000 aud * 8 speaker sound system * the engine should be mounted behind the strut tower (like s2000) * digital display water temp , oil pressure, boost, trans temp, fuel consumption, distance till empty, * buttons on the steering wheel for the stereo, and bluetooth * i pod capability * start button with 'smart key' * h.i.d headlights * climate control * classic coupe shape with a bootlid not a hatch * L.s.d luxury spec: +$3k *sunroof *sat nav *optional paddle shift/tiptronic auto+$2k *premium sound 10gig hard drive system 110 speakers inc subwoofer *digital trip computer,fuel consumption, distance till empty, *leather seats *dual zone digital climate control and also an S-TUNE variant with these extra features * price tag not exeeding $70,000 * 6piston brembos slotted and cross drilled rotors * extra chassis bracing * lighter weight cf bonnet and bootlid * competition mode traction control that can be switched off * launch control * Recaros/ bride seats micro seude(for grip) * digital display water temp , oil pressure, boost, trans temp, * basic sound system * 19x10 rear and 19x9 front semi slick tyres * front and rear difusers, bob tail spoiler * beefier lsd and clutch * different boost settings/ignition/timming(like sti they have 3) * smaller fuel tank these variants would be in competition with similarly priced/sized cars such as priced 40k-75k wrx/sti ralliart lancer/evo vw gti audi tt, sline a3/a4 renualt clio/megane rx8/mx5 civic type r xr6t/typhoon xr5 focus ss/ssv/clubsport r8 bmw 120/135 liberty gt bmw 135i ect,ect anyway i encorage photshops (original ones not the crap 's16chops' getting around) dont flame its just for fun but it would be cool if nissan actually listend see how we go

Also a lesson in production , the most expensive parts are research and development , initial 'tooling' of the machinery and producing a prototype, once this has been achieved successfully , it becomes very cheap to mass-produce the said item. So if 'it cost $100 to make something' then to mass produce 'something' would cost around $6.38c

Some facts about the motor industry In Vic it's illegal to sell a new motor vehicle apart from a commercial with out ESP , vdc,, traction control and 4 air bags, The motor industry is one big penis messuring contest it's about who has the most innovative best looking new design, that can jam in all the nessesities required to be sold in every single market in the world, make the most power , with the least emissions , and the highest safety , sports cars need to have this stuff but also be light and nimble, I'd like to again for the 50th time point out that every other manufacturer has a turbo performance car of some sort that comply's with every single requirement eg vw golf r 188kw 2.0l awd 5 star safety , euro 5 emissions , and 0-100km/hr in 4.8seconds with a price tag of $55,000 a 3yr warranty with unreal brakes and suspension and tyres, mass produced with a huge profit margin for all involved! Now can you fathom Nissan building a 2 door coupe Rwd 2.4l turbo with all that same stuff that could be lighter and do 0-100 in around 6 seconds and meet the world wide requirements for sale in all countries and at a cheaper price e.g $40-45k, and being a Nissan it doesn't have a 10,000$ badge fee

Mate as I said it has to be realistic , I.e something that Nissan would put there name on, it has to be cutting edge and something that will smash the competition for a fraction of the cost, There is know way Nissan or any government in the world would allow the sale of a death trap with no safety features and 20year old technology , that is exactly the same as the car they've banned most people from driving and importing all over the world, also it beads the 4 seats to make it a passenger car for rego an insurance purposes, otherwise just buy a 370z or go buy a vl Calais bro I say NO airbags as standard. Australians can't do any legal modifications due to shitty engineering laws and passing cars with airbags. Traction control just creates legal issues and more money towards something that not many want. its a silvia not an evo. 4 seats. I don't know. how many people actually use all 4 often? the 2 seats in the rear current are so small no average or tall australians can fit in them for anything but a short period of time. SR20VET. Aluminum chassis. Similar design as the S15 but wider track. 2 seats. Front mid engine. at least slightly further back then currently placed. Slightly more space around the front of the car. Design for modifications in mind. Instead of aiming for power since emission laws are too strict. Weight, reliability and the ability to modify should be the main focus. Like the FT86.

  8. Who has done it on a s13/14/15/180? Does it look cheap or classy? I'm all for these in the quest for safer roads (plus they look cool), but alot of people do it soo cheaply and tacky(rice) and 75% of the time looks crap, but if you spend the time and effort with some good planning it could look awesome I just wanna see some good examples of it done on silvia's/180's And even some poxy ones for a laugh wouldn't go astray either.

Good stuff I'm glad to see your all starting to see my vision It's all possible and cost effective , Nissan even have a name for it ( I don't know what it is) but in a nutshell they are designing series of vehicle using common parts inthe chassis so that the front middle and rear of the cars floor plan can be switched between many different types of cars ( obviously the panels on the cars exterior will be different ) but this means cheaper manufacturing costs = more chance of an s16 Silvia being built if you can use different bits from g37/z34/r35 ect ect

Yeah Kia,vw,Audi ,Mercedes ,skoda, Hyundai ,ford mondeo, hsvs. All have them I do alot of highway driving and even though it's not "original" it still looks good alot of courier vans now are running them and hilux/Navara 's ect and they look good super cheap or someone must have them for sale cheap cox the rubber strip ones look poxy as ! A girl at my work put them on to her 370z and they look cheap but I saw a 350z with some more expensive looking ones they looked awesome , I have seen the odd s15 with them if they spend the money they look pretty good! Don't forget gtr now have them also

    On my n14 SSS ( my first car) the guy I bought it off chopped the gear stick, one day whilst giving it hell I flat changed 3rd-4th and the bodgy cut stick went strait into 2nd and blew the rockers and bent valves! It was an expensive exersise I quickly learnt from and I NEVER do the bodgy short cut cheep option when I put the "short shifter" in it was like a dream and the gear lever was easy to find when I was being a p plater and racing any and everything!

    Tell me you didn't just cut the gear lever in half? So bodgy , that's not a short shifter it's a shortened shifter, a real short/ quick shifter is longer! And you can buy them on eBay for $50

    Mine would be a 240z with rb20de stroked to rb24de 6 throts rb25box diff and gtr brembos circuit/street car Other would be a s14 series 1 with vh45de with twin gt2871r's full street machine spec shaved and smoothed bay, muscle car but navan aero and r35 gtr wheels

  23. I reckon LOZ should put on a competition in the interests of keeping the spirit of the Silvia (and the hardtuned forum) going strong! And also it would be great exposure for hardtuned so next time someone ( journo's and punters) 'google' 'S16 Silvia' our concept pics would come up. Nissan may even scout someone So what does every think should there be a s16 concept comp?

Regardless of Nissan having absolutely no plans to bring us an s16, this thread was just for fun , I garuntee if they were going to build a new s16 Silvia they would do market research and look at forums like this from all over the world and take ideas in this thread to put together a concept pic, Now back to it....... To keep costs of said dream Silvia down for Nissan theyre should only be two models, an N/a base model (mainly for the p plate younger market ) with like 120kw they could just use the sr20s replacement engine the MR20DE found in Xtrail/dualis/quashqai. And a premium turbo model using the larger MR25DE and add a "T" Making the new power plant an MR25DET or VET engine Im really digging the two bulges on the bonnet of all new sports cars in the Nissan range and the grill that goes like this \_\__/_/ with the Nissan badge in the centre
