  1. Bit of a question in regards to how walking will effect my training. For the past 5 years I've been without a car/licence and pretty much have to walk everywhere and on any given day I may cover anywhere between 10-15km's. Would this be having a detrimental effect on my ability to gain muscle/strength and making it harder to strip the fat off?

  3. A freind rang me tonight and was telling me about this stuff called 'testoroid', he reckons it's suppose to be pretty good. apparently it's suppose to be some sort of natural testosterone thing. Anyone heard of it/tried it? Usually a little bit skeptical about the effectiveness of stuff like this.
  4. my new home forum

Bloody good work man. Having been in your sort of situation myself I know how hard it is to loose over thirty kilo's. congrats and keep up the good work.
  5. Yeah, it sounded a bit suss to me.
  6. The Program Thread

Just a quick question about doing the chins on the skinny dude #2 routine, where it says to do lat pull downs until you can chin, well i've been doing lat pulldowns and got to the point where I was doing the entire stack + a 20kg dumbell sitting on top of the stack so have now tried switching to chins but I can only do them with palms facing towards me. So my question is, should I keep doing chins like this till I get stronger or should I keep doing lat pulldowns until I'm strong enough to do chins properly with palms facing away. So far the program has been going really well for me, done deadlifts on tuesday and deadlifted 185kg, up from 140kg when I first started a few weeks ago, went from like 70kg to 90kg on military press, guna have a go at seeing what my max on squats is tonight, I'm hoping to hit round the 160kg mark up from 130kg. So it's definately working.
  7. LOL. you should come out to where I live then, girls around here only seem to be interested if your under 60kg (actually scratch that, maybe I should head out your way if what you say is true ).
  8. The Program Thread

Been using this program for the past few weeks and I have to say so far it's been working pretty good. even though the title says it's for skinny guys it works pretty good gor fat guys to. Gunna try and go for 90kg on Military Press tomorrow. I've put on a bit more weight, I hope it's all muscle, I'm up to 131kg's now but my belt size is still the same.
  9. I have been reading a fair bit on these forums about diet and how important it is but a discussion I had with my old man recently did raise a few questions about this. Now my father works for a prison as a prison guard and he was telling me all these stories about all this shit that goes on in there and the topic of weight training came up and he was going on about how big and strong some of these guys were, squatting/deadlifting well over 200kg, benching over 150kg etc etc. Some of the guys were getting up around the 130-140kg's of bodyweight and were basically pure muscle. Anyways I started quizzing my old man about the type of food they get, wanting to know if they were able to get any sort suppliments etc and surprisingly he said these guys were eating just the same stuff as everbody else, standard prison food, nothing special. Now I know all the science suggests that we eat five to six meals a day, high protien etc etc, but this really has got me asking a few questions as to the effectiveness of all these fancy diets and suppliments. Not actually trying to suggest anything to anyone, just thought it was an interesting observation really.
  10. I will disagree with you. When your doing a burn out in full momentum the Kinetic energy is massive! The kinetic energy has to go somewhere once you have finished your skid and generally has to lurch forwards to disipate the energy. Now this to you may not sound like much, but what happens when your during this burn out and a car comes round the corner? What is your first reaction? let the foot off the brake in panic? HMMMMMMMMMM head ons with a lot of kinetic energy sounds disasterous to me. Dont say it doesnt happen! I would like to post more on this drink driving thing but I think we are taking away from the point of the hoon laws. But I do agree the punishment for drinking driving is negligible 2 year loss of licence is nothing. Maybe someone needs to do some research here and write a paper that you can get published so people can actually find this information useful rather than random "Hoons" posting crap Bla bla bla bla bla!!!! I see alot of theory here but still no proof!!!! Like I said, go find some proof, at least 1 reported case in any of the government stats that shows someone has been killed by or from preforming a burnout. Ok take your arrogance to someone who is younger and more naive, that actually thinks what you write is smart! I have seen with my own eyes accidents caused by burnouts! Ive had mates who have been hero's that have done the foot on brake thing and panic'd and power punched poles/vehicles. Im not talking hypothetical you ignorant little gnat. Im speaking from experience. Its all harmless fun. How bout that moron back about 6 months that ripped a skid and power punched a 7/11.. Only reason no one was hurt/died was because there was no one in the shop and the attendant was just out of the way. Be smart and watch your tone. There are older, wiser and smarter people on these forums than you. First off, i ain't that young myself, i have been in the modified car seen for over 30 years and i to have seen idiots who have lost it and hit poles and other cars and even people. guess what, none of them were killed. But anyway I think this is getting away from the point that i was trying to make originally and that was that the punishment for doing something like a burnout is a hell of alot harsher than it is for far more dangerous activities such as drink/drug driving. and that the reason for this is that the people in positions of power have a real grudge against modified car owners and so use there power to unfairly discriminate against them.
  11. How important is diet really?

good point, wouldn't be surprised if they were on the roids.
  12. Hi, new here and just wanted to get some advice on starting a weight training routine. I've actually been training for about two years and made decent progress for the first 12 months following the advice of the trainers at my local gym (but I think that was more just because I was really unfit when I started and doing anything would have worked), but have struggled to make any gains over the past 12 months. They pretty much had me doing all these machine weights and bicep curls and shitt like that. Anyways, getting to the point, I've been reading the threads on this forum for a while now and decided to try and start putting some of the stuff I've learned here into practice so I've tried putting together a routine based on what I have read here and just wanted to get everyone's opinion. Monday/Thursday Squats 3sets X 8reps Deadlift 3 X 8 SL Deadlift 3 X 8 Cleans 3 X 8 Lunges 3 X 8 Calf Raises 3 X 12 Tuesday/Friday Military Press 3 X 8 Bench Press 3 X 8 Close Grip Bench Press 3 X 8 Bent Over Rows 3 X 8 Wide Grip Chins 3 X 8 BB Curl 3 X 12 Does this routine look ok, is there anything I should change? I'm also trying to get rid of a bit of fat (I'm 6ft 5 and 129kg) and was thinking of trying to introduce HIIT training that M&M was going on about into my routine.
  13. been going through a few of M&M's posts and i think you may be right, 5 X 5 may be the way to go.

  15. you really think no one has died from doing stupid shit in cars do you? I dont know who is more stupid, the guys on the commadore forums or you... Try reading the post properly in its entirity first before saying dumb shit like that.! where the hell did I say that no one has died from doing stupid shit in cars. of course they have! what I said is there is not one instance on record (in Australia at least) of someone being killed from doing a burnout!!! And I was very specific about burnout and the definition of a burnout. If you disagree, then go find some proof and post it here, i would love to see it!!!
  16. Any suggestions on things I should be doing different? A freind of mine suggested the following routine, said it worked good for him. Monday/Wednessday/Friday Clean & Press Squats bench dips WG Chins Close Grip Pulldowns Would something like this be more appropriate? He said he was doing 3sets X 15reps, but I figure the rep range he was working at wouldn't really work for my goals. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated,
  17. Squat 130kg bench 110kg military 80kg row 90kg clean 85kg Basically I just wan't to strip the fat off me, put on some more muscle and increase my strength as much as possible
  18. Well I signed it even though I don't really think it will do anything. For those that are interested I am starting an initiative to fight these anti hoon laws (i'll give more info when I get things organised and I can assure you it ain't no lame petiton, and before you ask, yes it is all legal and above board.) Now I'm not totally against the idea of anti hoon laws, if you drive like an idiot than you deserve to get punished. However there are two things that really worry me. 1. The punishment should fit the crime! These don't. Drink driving kills hundreds of people a year yet if some 45yr old white male get busted DUI, he gets a slap on the wrist. There isn't a single death on record of someone being killed from a burnout (i.e. foot on brake and accelorator at same time, not a power skid, people have been killed from this) yet if your some 20yr old male in a hotted up car than you can loose your licence, have your car crushed and go to jail if you get caught spinning your wheels even a fraction. These laws unfairly target a minority. 2. You can easily be convicted when you have done nothing wrong! The way these laws have been drafted (ie hoon like behaviour), leave a lot of scope for interpritation, basically the police can decide what is and isn't legal on the fly based on their own interpritation. And like most traffic laws it looks as though these laws will come under civil law like most traffic offences generally meaning that the ploice officer's testimony is taken as the Prima facie of evidence. What if the officer lies just to get a conviction. I think we're all smart enough to know there are officers out there that abuse their power. Now under criminal law, that officer is required to meet a burdon of proof to proove that you commited a crime. But under civil law, that burden of proof is now on you to prove that you are innocent, pretty bloody hard to do when there is no real definition of what 'hoon like behaviour' really is! The consaquences of these laws is bloody frighting, and we should fight to see them at least redrafted to make sure that they are a. fair and b. the innocent are protectwed from wrongful convictions. You can check out www.fairlaws.xtreemhost.com for more info on this. (note, there isn't really anything there yet, i've just built it, but I will be updating info on the site soon.
