  2. Removing camshafts

Thanks for the extra tips Scottie, cam caps were already off and engine came without CAS but good to know regardless. Cheers
  3. Removing camshafts

Cheers ColS15, I'll get onto it like you say. Thanks for the Info.
  4. Removing camshafts

The engine is out of the car so I'm not worried about the chain falling as I'm just stripping it down to pieces now for easier transport/storage. So in essence once I undo the the nuts on the front of the camshafts the gear bits will simply come away from the chain? Sorry for the noobness I've never done this before and I'm certainly no mechanic.
  5. Hi guys, Quick question about removing camshafts from the sr20. Is it possible to remove camshafts and VCT while the timing chain is still on or do I have to remove the chain somehow first? I've removed the tensioner already and the chain has some slack but I'm not sure if its enough slack to remove the VCT etc. Had a bit of a search and couldn't quite find anything that specific. Thanks
  6. Fitting new turbo

Cheers fellas, I will have a good look at it.
  7. Ok, So I have a custom 2871 I want to bolt up to my sr20 and I was wondering how I could determine if I need an oil restrictor in the turbo oil feed line. I'm currently running a bush bearing turbo, the new item is a ball bearing turbo. Can anyone shed some light on the matter? Cheers EDIT: just found old thread that confused me a little saying all Garrett turbos have inbuilt restrictors, can someone in the know please confirm?
  8. E85 question + another thing

Yeh 22psi unopened motor, could be the beginning of the end eh, hehe.

  10. E85 question + another thing

Thanks for the heads up mate,I don't have a catch can so I might get a compression test done. Would high boost affect this issue?
  11. E85 question + another thing

Thanks for the replys guys. Yeah I have already done the fuel filter once and oil and filter as well. I thought it may be of some benefit to run 98 but sounds like it not's necessary. Anyone got any ideas about re-circ hose being blown off? Thanks
  12. So, my car is tuned and has been running on E85 for about a year now, runs well, no problems at all however I was wondering if some of you with experience could enlighten me a bit. What I was wondering is would it be ok to say put 10 to 15 litres of 98 in my car and just idle it or drive around the block a few times off boost to get some ULP through the fuel system? Reason I ask is I've seen some some posts on forums about gunk building up in the injectors and around the valves. I've been using lucasoil e85 stabiliser for ages with every tank as well. Also I've noticed every now and then the breather/re-circ hose on the rocker cover has come off, is that from excessive crank case pressure? There's no oil spraying anywhere and the dipstick does not move. Cheers

  14. Hey guys, Looking for some info on the benefits if any of using a t3 turbine housing and manifold an internally stock sr20det? Mods to engine include all the bolt ons to support a turbo running 22psi on e85 and poncams. Basically wondering if the enlarged flange area will assist with spool up and if so would it be better with 0.64 or .86 rear housing. The turbo I have is a hypergear ss1pu, sits between a 2871 and a 3071 wheel size wise. Have tried searching google but all I could come up with was adds selling manifolds. Keen to hear some feedback, thanks guys. P.s. car is used as a streeter mainly and drags, looking at some track time soon too hopefully.
  15. S14A JDM Grill Clips

Thanks Gomanji, I had no idea they were the same as other models, cheers.
