CA18DE and CA18DET Exhaust Camshafts
Bloke replied to GoSilvia's topic in Nissan Silvia (nissansilvia.com)
I couldn't find the specs at the time, but you're probably right. Mine was incorrectly setup one tooth out, and it was a dog. -

Check your timing marks again. Easy to get it one tooth off. As far as I can remember, DE and DET exhaust cams are very similar in spec. Same lift and duration, but initial timing is only different by about 5deg, which would be hardly noticable. Check your timing marks again. Easy to get it one tooth off. Shim it up. Should be heaps of info out there on them. Some guys will shim them up to the point of being a locker, but I believe there's a way to figure out how much to shim one, to make them a little more friendly on the street.

Lol at MCM. Most of their build threads are just people showing off their latest fingerpainting.

I think the damage has been done. Everyone left for other forums, or Facebook etc.

How often do I need to change gaskets around the turbo/exhaust area?
Bloke replied to Shadow_Matrix's topic in General Automotive Chat
Also check that the faces of the flanges are dead flat. If they're warped, it'll only be a matter of time before another gasket blows out. +1 for OEM gaskets, too. -
You'd be better off starting with a head that hasn't been f**ked with. That's the trouble with cars these days; plenty of info out there on how to do something, but not how to do it properly.

S14 Seatbelt Assembly - Help Required
Bloke replied to JoELMaN's topic in Nissan Silvia (nissansilvia.com)
Compare with the other side? -
The gunk is the E85 loosening up all the garbage that's in your tank, and running it through your pump, filter, and injectors. My suggestion is change your fuel filter much more frequently, and clean out the teabag that hangs off the bottom of the pump.

You're not looking hard enough.

Turbo timer? Have I stepped back into 1998?
-
Should be able to stretch the stock boots over them with a bit of help from some silicone spray.

Red speckle paint.
-
Yes, definitely buy the Tomei rocket arms.

Can't you just drain the shit fuel out, change the filter, and put some 98 back in it? If there's shit in the tank, a higher octane fuel won't fix it.
