  1. Hey guys! This is my first post here but I really needed some clear answers. Have tried googling but everyone seems to have red-tops for this. Anyway, I was about to dump some money into my car (front mount, cams, ecu, injectors etc) but decided to do a compression test first to make sure everything was good. The car has done 95,000kms (both body and original motor). However my compression results have slightly worried me as they seem to be seriously low. Cylinder 1: 122PSI Cylinder 2: 121PSI Cylinder 3: 119PSI Cylinder 4: 119PSI This was done on a hot motor (driven around for around 30 minutes then tested straight away) with the throttle fully open. They are next to perfectly even across the board but am just concerned with how low they are. The car drives perfectly, does not feel sluggish, no hesitation on boost, doesn't burn oil etc. Just has me a bit concerned now is all. What do you guys think?

  3. so ive started to port the head and ive noticed that on the intake theres a little bulge in the middle of each cylinder runner, it looks like its there because of the lifter pivots? or something? to anyone that has ported them, did you ground that flat? or do you leave it because you'd be close to porting through to the lifter pivots? http://midnighttouge.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/sr20det-intake-ports.html heres an image for reference also does anyone know how many thou to shave off the head to give a compression ratio of 9.5:1? i ceebs working it out

    Stole intro from new members section Hi all, I'm known by the name of Luko and live in the hills of SA I've got my hands on this 180, it looks a bit rough and has a defect right now so over the next few weeks I'm going to clean it up and register it. I bought the car off a friend who tried to put a 200 front on it, and got defected for it being too low, and then rear ended a van at 40kph. It has a kit on it but I want to take it back to stock and do my own thing. I have plans for a 5 stud conversion and some mild upgrades, would love a heap of kw's. I'm interested in getting out to Mallala too. 1995 180sx blacktop. 11xxxxkms. I'm looking forward to making a build thread very soon, and no doubt I have plenty of questions that need answers - this is my first import and modding opportunity. Thanks guys! Hey guys/girls Been a long term follower but never signed up until now I have a 1999 200sx S14 thats got bit of a idling problem and figured here is the place to ask, its bit of a write up but I'd appreciate it if you could take the time to read it and perhaps give me some insight as to where to go next Initially the car was idling at 2100rpm when cold and say 1900rpm when warmed up. I cleaned the TPS and AAC valves as well as the throttle body, no difference. After plenty of messing around I checked for air leaks, nothing sprung to mind. (car has factory ecu and a FMIC) I then discovered the throttle stop wasn't adjusted properly and wasn't retuning so I got my mate to hold it back on the stop and it dropped a fair bit, down to 1500 rpm (or at least thats what it reads) Now I have adjusted the TPS and idle screw so she idles VERY smoothly at 1500rpm, and to be honest I think its reading wrong on the tacho as I feel its more like 700rpm. Reason being, when I bring it down even further so it reads 1100 rpm the car just stalls!? I don't think its an air leak causing it, perhaps a vacuum leak but its very smooth as it is at 1500rpm. Also, the car has a overhead rattle, I think it might be the timing chain or the adjuster as it seems to go at 2500rpm. When I first start it she rattles bady but as soon as it goes into 1st it goes away....... Anywho, what do you guys recommend I do next?? I am able to do most work myself, probably couldn't replace the timing chain at home but not really sure if it needs it (have tried new oil and added engine tuneup, sometimes goes away othertimes not) Most importantly want it to idle nicely at the recommended 800rpm.
