tas_180 posted a topic in Members RidesNow having sold my 180sx of the last four years it's time to get stuck into the new car. 2008 was an extremely successful year locally and 2009 will see the car venture around Australia in search of the 2009 Super Drift crown. A massive step up, but I am sure we can put together a car that is capable of winning the crown, it's just up to me to deliver the goods on race day! This is the car I used this year: This is the 09 car as I purchased it (previous owner rubbed back to metal in a few places a few months ago, sanding and spray anti rust stuff (forget the name on the can) over it temporarily. Good base car, straight, never been molested, was CA turbo...only real issue is the rust in the hatch due to having a bird bath rear wing (which never seal from water). Hatch is being replaced anyway and water didn't reach the interior anyway so no biggie. Car is now stripped and 3/4 of sound deadening is out of the car. Over the next week or so I will completely strip the interior of the remainder of the sound deadening and pull the wiring up over the steering column so it's out of the way. Will also get stuck into the engine bay in preparations for prep and paint by Highway Crash Repairs, who have agreed to continue their involvement with the team. Would like to run custom tubs in the front arches, but will just give the stock tubs a bit of love in the areas needed. Over the next month or so car will receive the following: - Fully seam welded chassis (paying for a rotisserie to be made) - 13ish point CAMS Approved weld in roll cage All of the above will be performed by AzCustom Performance Fabrications (if you're in Tassie and want a cage I HIGHLY recommend Az and Kieran's work, give Az a call on 0418186758 for a quote or further information) In the meantime I am purchasing as many items as possible for the engine build, 5 stud conversion, brakes, driveline etc. Nick from GT Garage will be putting the engine together after Tasmanian Engine Reconditioning have worked their magic on the head and block. No stroking here, but it will be a pretty mental SR! To give you an idea of the 2009 car build: - Forged engine with the lot revving to 7800rpm (don't need to rev higher or solid lifters...unless I had an unlimited budget) and should make 300rwkw on lowish boost - 13ish point weld in CAMS Approved roll cage - Fully seam welded chassis - No interior bar a pair of Bride Low Max Vois 3 seats, dash, Nardi wheel and Apexi gauges - External fuel setup (044 draw pump from small lift pump, surge tank, lines, fittings etc boxed off) - 25mm front guards 50mm rears - BIG WHEELS (not looking to save 1kg on TE's, will hopefully have kf again) - BIG WING (a must for any GT Garage drift car!) I will update this thread constantly as the car build progresses. If your business is interested in becoming involved with Team GT Garage for the 2009 season feel free to email myself at email@example.com to receive the Official 2009 Team GT Garage Portfolio and Information Pack.
