  2. DEFECT HELP

    hi there, i was recently defected in my s15, i am registered in QLD, but was defected in NSW. i don't really understand all these different rules with both states so am after a little help. so i got done for -tyres,rims not comply -no filter engine bay -vehicle suspension heigh (cop didn't even check just assumed) i checked and i am legal. -vehicle exhaust NON-standard. (quiet az f**k) -battery loose tyre size different, (i had 18's rotars on front and stock 16"s s15 standard on the back because i had a blow out on one of the rears so had the spare on then changed both to standard when i got home). -seat belt no retract, (retracts a little slow) -pedals non slip- WTF??? -engine mount to tower non standard. and slapped an ugly yellow sticker on my window. so how do i go about this? who am i getting a roady for? QLD or NSW. do i even need a roady? just pay fine? cause i am in QLD. so doesnt mean shit in QLD cause i abide by QLD roads not RTA. the cop was soo un helpful as usual.
  3. So i was on my way home from work, police going other way, lights go on, quick u-turn, pulled over for what they say was just for a random breath test. Nek Minnut, 3 defects, tail lights tinted (fair enough), rear wiper not on (fair enough) and pod filter exposed, (it was really boxed with a 3-4sq inch gap, which to him was unsatisfactory.) So i've fixed up the tail lights and wiper and i went to buy a stock airbox today from a wrecker, problem is i own an s15 autech (NA:SR20de) and Spec R (sr20det) boxes don't fit apparently, and s15 autech boxes are to even bother looking for. Question 1: Does anyone have an autech s15 airbox in Sydney? Question 2: Do na s13 and s14 airboxes fit on an autech s15? Question 3: If Yes to question 2, does anyone have an NA airbox for me to purchase? Question 4: Do K&N Apollo filters fit on an NA S15?
  4. Defect Woes

    The back story for people who fancy a read Ok so here's my long winded story of the frustration I've had over the last week. So about a week ago I was driving along a road down at eight mile plains and come up to a RBT, instantly I have one of the cops beckoning me over to the side of the road (I have had this car for a only week at this point btw, and I'm also on L plates as I don't have my manual license yet but on opens.). Straight away the cop asks me to pop my bonnet saying he heard my BOV as I was turning on the road (I had not been accelerating hard by any means, the BOV is quite responsive) and them Him and another officer claim that my BOV isn't plumbed back, which anyone with an IQ of 5 could easily look and see the plumb back pipe going straight to the intake. Anyway the officer tells me it isn't plumb back and me and my mate both tell him it is which seemed to piss him off so we were asked to get out and one of the officers proceeds to rev the tits off my engine to make the BOV go off whilst the other officer has his ear around the passengers foot well trying to hear where the noise is coming from (clearly from the intake which I tried to explain but these guys wouldn't listen). Eventually because they cant find where the noise is coming from they mention something about the DOT looking at it. One of the officers proceeds to look over the car trying to find me something he can actually pin me for, he checks the spare tyre and then looks at my seats (ADR approved drift blade buckets), he says its a major defect not to have a mod plate for aftermarket seats (fair enough) but then says it will need to be checked over by Darra DOT by the 30th and cant be driven. He slaps a big ass yellow sticker in the middle of the windscreen and they pack up and go home leaving us standing on the side of the road. (Whilst this was all happening they let through an evo with a roll cage with no question, a bomby car with tail lights out and a lifted jeep with muddies poking out the guards). So because it has to go to the DOT I have spent the last week making anything they could pick on legal, I have raised it to almost 4wd height, put some legal wheels on it (the other ones were flush when it was lower but when I raised it they poked out a bit.), got the mod plate done (he also did an engineers report for the intercooler hole in the battery tray), got a resonator put on the exhaust to quieten it up a bit, took the HIDs out, replaced the seat belts (frayed drivers side) and a few bits here and there, it has cost me an absolute bucket to have it all done, especially considering it needs to be towed everywhere. I find out the day before I was going to take it in I need to actually make a booking with the Darra inspection station so I call up and they tell me the next free inspection is the 24th.....of August! I ask the person on the phone if there's anyway I can drive it between now and then and he said if I call up the police station who defected me and told them the booking number they can change it on their system and it can be driven. So I call QPS and ask them, the woman on the phone checks with her sergeant and comes back and tells me it cannot be driven until its been inspected and signed off by the DOT. So I'm left with my new car which I have had the joy of driving for a week sitting outside not being able to be driven for two months. Its made my views of QPS and the DOT not too favorable as it seems the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing as they tell me conflicting info. I have been into the police station closest to where I was booked and also Darra DOT to see if there's anything I could do and they both pretty much shrugged their shoulders and didn't want to help out at all. On to my Questions I have seen in the past it was possible to deregister a car and the defect will be cleared and then at a later date register the car again just get a RWC which is much easier than going over the pits and it can be driven again, is this still the case as I really don't want to have to wait till the end of august to drive the car again. Also can people who have been through these inspections before shed some light on things that they could pick up on, the things I'm a bit iffy about are the camber arms on the back, K&N pod filter (though its secured it isn't enclosed but the guy who did the mod plate said you don't need to have them enclosed in QLD), Tee boost controller and one of the tein coilovers needs to be rebuilt as its leaking oil. Also whats the point of the cops saying I need to clear the defect by the end of this month if I cant get a booking until 2 months away?
  5. hey all, I have a 94 180sx which im trying to get passed for engineering and then rego inspection (defected!!). I was told the only way to get the rear cage engineered is if I get a single bar going from point to point across the rear cage (image attached). I ahve tried afew places here in Canberra with no luck, so was hoping anyone here would have one/know where to get on? any help is appreciated. cheers, Aaron
  6. hey peeps just wanting to see what peoples opinions are and need some help if im not on the right track this is my 1st defect Btw these copers were totally pigs dog rats and investigated everything on it, were as ive been cought multiple times and not one coppa said anything and let me go, -SUSPENSION TO BE NO LESS THEN 2/3 travel, This cracked me up as the copper just simple pushed down on the rear and said yep that's screwed I was like urm ? they were made to be street legal purposely to not be defected, he just ignored me, ROLL CAGE - Engineer Cert Req, I took the Roll cage out so will it pass that, my mechanic said just take it out and shouldn't be a problem, TYRES - I had 17inch on front and 19s on back because one of my 17s rim had a crack in it and i was driving around like that for a while, I did however Buy new rims with new bridge-stone tyres on them all round, and finally - VEHICLE TO COMPLY WITH EPA STANDARDS, This is noise yes? or no ? I also had a previous EPA for noise which I didn't clear and then copt all this on top, however tomorrow the car is going into ACE EXHAUSTS in Ringwood to make it just under 90db and get my Cert for that to, so after all this is done I need a r.w.c? also car ran out of rego and I have to pay for that to, after i fixed the defects do I go and get a r.w.c first and then go to vicroads ? and What am i going to expect please more help the better for me Im a bit slow in the head it is a turbo also is this going to cause any problems ? it was registered and on the road before I just went slack and didnt pay rego ended up getting un-reged and then got caught while un-regd so yeh heres some pics any help will be appreciated thanks Yusuf,

OK so I copt an major defect on my s13 turbo blacktop I live in ringwood VIC melb btw., i fixed most all i need now is a roll cage cert, I don't know were to obtain and to silence or change to a stock exhaust to pass, now im stuck at this Do i fix all and then make appointment with EPA, do they clear all the defects plus take down the sticker? or am I lost, I also have to get a r.w.c which is easy after it is cleared ? and pay for rego, also what the heck does vehicle to comply with EPA standards mean is that just the exhaust ? and What are the good places to go to clear that arnt bastards Very confusion.... I got a blue defect note recently of the cops when the defected the car, but I called vic roads today they said I have copd a EPA for noise as well ? im just lost so if I make any sense please try and help haha
