  4. 180sx // RB20

https://i.imgur.com/NYJwdk8.jpgGO TO LAST PAGE --> Current status - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Hey guys, so not too much about me but I've just turned 19, had my R32 Skyline gts-4 rb20det stolen two days after i moved in to a new house.. Still with family, need money for this!) What I always say is there's not much point in using the words 'could' 'should' 'would' or thinking about negatives so I decided to just move on as quickly as I can. I searched for weeks online scouring the QLD for registerable 180sx shells whilst keeping a keen eye for my r32 parts :\ I was selling a van, my brother got it for very cheap and gave it to me to sell out of compassion, will never forget that. In the ad i would take a 180sx shell with cash adjustment, this guy had no cash but offered me the shell, which was lucky he kept it off-market while I got the van sold (4ish weeks) Price of shell $1000 ono (UPDATE 15/4/20: The price was negotiated down to $600, and to date I've easily sold 400-500 of stuff, got another 200 to sell along with parts I will be keeping to use like the one piece drive shaft, r200, half shafts, etc) Sold van $3,500, Bought my brothers Honda Civic EK1 - $2000 Registered (perfect for a daily, fuel, weight, fwd safety in rain, etc) Oh and the best part is he left his stereo in there as he has loads of gear, it's only a 300w amp with 2x 10inch subs but it vibrates the glass, your bones and hair on your body at 90% volume Also if my context of time is a bit confusing in this first post it's because I just started this thread after it all happened about 1 month ago, so I will post "progress" in one or two posts after this then time will be live So I finally dragged my brother and my dad along on the two hour drive, and seen the silhouette of the 180 in the driveway as we arrived, I could feel them internally cringing, smashed windscreen, no driver door or quarter glass, grim reaper bonnet hahaha, and etc. Pretty much looked like this bonnet First thing I did was gurney it off, something retarded happened and I musta slipped my right hand being wet or something and the gun pointed at my left hand tearing off 1/2" squared of skin, stung for whole night and day after baha, next best to the old knuckle bash. Here she is at the yard (Location god damn disclosed, no info for potential thiefs -.-) with all that stripped interior taken out and organised. Was as absolute bitch to get on and especially off the trailer as it was 'rolling' without coilovers, uprights wired to the strut tops and sitting on stockies. Like sitting, the wheel arches onto the tyres haha, very hard to roll even with the low weight Came with some goodies, 2L surge tank I am painting at the very moment so pics in next post, with 044 External Bosch, and apparently a 040 in the tank which I will found out soonish. Came with sard FPR, some good looking stereo gear, Bunch of thick gauge wire inc. power, few rca cables, extra relays for thermo and pump etc, all stock relay boxes/fuses and some kind of loom. This weird Boost controller thing? Seems to be a solenoid but no wires? Couldn't be a tee as no adjustment? If anyone knows lemme know Pignose/CA Front bar with lip (Genuine and came on car) The only front bumper I lovee! Here's all the interior, selling the green keeping red UPDATE: Sold most of it, got boot trims on reserve for a guy to trade for sunroof and RH door which I need My first steps are the get the car stripped so I can prep the shell, have got the crossmember off and jesus it's heavy to shift on your own. Guess the car's weight has to come from somewhere. 1 foot of progress ~ 3 mins 3 metres of progress ~ 25 mins and pooped out Finally in haha, you can probably see in the last photo I was going for the shipping container (my uncles but he lets me use back section) where my parts are but gave up and put into the demountable until I can get a hand or strip it down.

  6. I am trying to sort out my s14's suspension before i go in for a full alignment, so am in the market for some camber and toe arms. The car is primarily a daily (90% street / 10% track). Currently i only have Greddy coilovers all round and a strut brace. Was really liking the gktech products but they are sold out till the version 3 gear comes out after July. However they still have s13 toe arms instock at clearance prices and if i am able to make it work id like to grab one while their available. From my limited knowledge i though s13 and s14 toe arm were the same as ive had friends say they've used s14 arms on their s13. Can someone please tell me i am able to make these work for my s14? From the site says there is a 5mm difference in the rose joint insert, am i able to drill this out to fit or something? or possibly purchase different inserts from somewhere to use? im assuming they are just press fit http://www.gktech.co...-late-july.html Also can anyone point me in the direction of sub $200, decent quality camber arms. From previous threads i've read kkr and isc are under par but unsure if they have improved in quality. Also seen Hard Race available at a few shops including justjap. Decent?
  7. RB25 Fan Clutch

Is there any advantage / disadvantage to running the GKTech Fan on a SR20DET using the RB25 clutch in place of the SR20 clutch? I know the hole PCD is about half a hole out, however, I would have them slotted to suit.
  8. S13/S14/S15 Replacement Engine fan - 60% more air flow The GKTECH replacement engine fan has been designed and engineered in Australia specifically for us with the intention of pulling more air than the factory item. Surprisingly, this was very easy to design and the design that our engineering firm came up with is based around the design of a propeller. It is a direct replacement clutch fan for the S13/180sx, S14 and S15 SR20 powered Silvia's/200sx's. Simply remove your factory fan (4 bolts) and install the new fan. - Direct replacement of the standard fan - Pulls 60% more air than the factory SR fan and pulls around 40% more air than the factory RB25 fan (a common upgrade) - When tested on a dyno the new fan took less than half the time to cool down from 90 degrees to operating temperature (good for next time you're on the start line at the track) - Only a slight increase in noise (barely noticeable) Vehicle Compatibility: Nissan Silvia S13 (SR20 only) Nissan 180sx (SR20 only) Nissan 200sx S14 Nissan 200sx S15 IN STOCK NOW @ $79!! Buy here: http://www.gktech.com/index.php/s13-s14-s15-replacement-engine-fan-60-more-air-flow.html
  9. I guess this belongs in the drift forum as this is the start of a dedicated tube chassis drift car with the goal of us putting them into production. Gary Castillo from Design Craft Fabrication in California is building the prototype car (if you haven't heard of Gary, google him) based around a 240sx that is being converted to RHD. The prototype will be built up to a running stage and then it will be stripped down, the complete chassis will be 3D scanned and then we'll optimize the design further on screen with the idea of a tube chassis being put into production assuming all goes to plan. Here's how the $900 car started and here's where we're at so far. The build is expected to take around 10-12 weeks and MotoIQ will be following the build. NOTE: this is pounds, not kgs At this stage the specs of the build are still being decided (really fast) as we're in talks with sponsors however an SR20 is 100% guaranteed and we'll be running a Z33 6 speed box thanks to nissanparts.cc ($1,532 brand new!), along with a new range of chromoly suspension arms that we'll be releasing in the coming months, our billet aluminium knuckles front and rear, Wilwood brakes all round, Enkei RPF1's, etc. etc. Enjoy Greg
  10. Hi All, I've got a spare subframe lying around that came with the purchase of Superpro nothalane/urathane bushes. I bought the subframe purely for the Superpro bushes as they were brand new and super cheap! Only that they were already pressed in, but thought coming with the subframe is a bonus! I was looking to doing a direct replacement of my current one on the car, but I thought what the hell since I've got the subframe out I may as well strengthen it before it goes in, so I don't have to worry about it down the track. I came across the GKTech plates (pictured below) and wanted some feedback on them. They're only $44 for the set which is peanuts. http://www.gktech.co...ent-plates.html Before I go ahead and purchase them, just wanting opinions on what would be the most cost effective way. Should I get these and get a fabricator to weld them up and pretty much just pay for their time (i.e. labour)? Or, should I get the fabricator to make up the plates and weld them up? If the latter, how much would it set me back approximately (i.e. for time and material)? Note, I don't have access to a welder and don't look at doing this myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also if any locals (Eastern Suburbs, Victoria) can do this for me shoot me a pm Cheers, Andy
  11. wondering if anyone has used one and noticed a differece? do they wreck your box, I know there cheap but theres no point putting it in if it does worse than the factory? opinions?

  13. We are a bit behind schedule but we do have some progress. Shown here are some of our V2 prototype billet 7075-T6 knuckles that will go through a series of on-car and bench tests. At this stage I would estimate we are 2 to 3 weeks behind schedule however we are doing everything possible to speed the process up. That said, we won't be machining 100 sets of knuckles up until we are 100% happy For those that have missed it what we have here is a CNC machined billet 7075-T6 aluminium modular knuckle for the S chassis (S13 and S14/S15) with Chromoly spindle. Featuring: - spindle height raised 40mm's to correct roll center - modular steering arm (choice between 4 steering arms at the time of ordering) - adjustable steering arm to correct bump steer - modular caliper mount with ABS provision (choice between 2 brackets at the time of ordering; standard and extended bracket to suit 4pot caliper with 324mm R33 GTR rotor - S13 version is: 2.52kg which is a 24% reduction over standard - S14/S15 version is: 2.63kg which is a 31% weight reduction over standard - adjustable camber +/- 2.4 degrees - mix and match when ordering. Ie. ability to order the knuckle with S14 spindle, with S14 ball joint insert but with S13 strut bolts (12mm Vs S14/S15 having 14mm) - CAD files available to the general public for steering arm and caliper bracket development at a later date Options include: Spindle type - S13 spindle for use with 4 stud hubs - S14/S15 spindle for use with 5 stud hubs (perfect if you want to do a 5 stud conversion on your S13/180sx. Just buy a pair of 5 stud hubs and you're done) Strut mount inserts - S13 strut mounts (12mm holes) - S14/S15 strut mounts (14mm holes) Ball joint inserts - S13 ball joint insert - S14/S15 ball joint insert Brake caliper mount - Standard brake caliper mount - 324mm brake caliper mount for use with 4 pot R32, Z32, S14 or S15 calipers using R33 GTR rotors Steering arms - Standard steering arms are exactly that, they're in the same position as the standard steering arms and are ideal for circuit/track racers or non drift cars that aren't after extreme steering angle - Extreme steering arms feature; the fastest turninng/transitions of all 4 arms, gives the most inside wheel lock (+12 degrees over factory steering arm), has the most Ackermann effect of all the arms. NOTE: offset steering rack extenders or steering rack relocation required (we sell offset steering rack extenders for $69 if ordered at the time you're ordering the knuckles) - JP Special steering arms feature; similar turning speed to the standard steering arm, -4 degrees of lock (yes, slightly less steering lock from the arm itself), very linear response, even at extreme lock angles, - less Ackermann effect than standard or extreme steering arms - Zero ackerman steering arms feature; - keeps the wheels pointing in the same direction at all steer angles (ie no Ackermann effect), similar turning speed to the extreme steering arm, +3 degrees of steering lock from inside wheel and +13 degrees of lock from outside wheel, less tendency for the tie rod on the inside wheel to overcentre, meaning no need for offset rack spacers or rack relocation, gives the most outside wheel lock (assuming it doesn’t hit the castor rod), reduces tyre scrubbing and avoids washing off speed mid-drift Steering rack extenders - Standard steering rack extenders offer an additional 19mm's of steering rack travel- Offset steering rack extenders offer extra steering rack travel and also move the pickup position forward allowing more steering angle. These are only required if you have moved your steering rack forward already or you're not after steering angle. The offset rack spacers are not recommended for cars that are used frequently. (ie. only for dedicated drift cars) Price is $599 pre buy and can be ordered via our website here: http://www.gktech.com/index.php/s-chassis-billet-aluminium-knuckles-introductory-price.html?
  14. The GKTECH braided brake lines are a direct replacement of the factory lines and are stronger (read: more reliable) than the factory rubber lines which are prone to breaking but they also eliminate the spongy feel of the standard brake lines. The front lines are also longer to compensate for big brake setups or cars with more steering lock (which would see stretching with the factory line) The brake lines are manufactured in the UK specifically for GKTECH and they comply with all DOT, TUV, and ADR specifications. Vehicle Compatibility: - Nissan S13 Silvia - Nissan 180sx - Nissan S14 200SX - Nissan S15 200SX - Nissan Skyline R32 GST-T - Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T INTRO PRICE @ $119.20 for a full SET!!! Purchase here: http://www.gktech.com/index.php/s13-s14-s15-r32-r33-braided-brake-lines-front-rear-set-intro-price.html?SID=e2a51fefe979df0fc8060bb27463fb9a
  15. S13/S14/S15 front castor tops - Introductory price until December 2nd @ $59/pair If you're running camber tops and you're looking for more castor this is the easiest way to go about it. Simply replace your standard strut mount with this strut top and you'll see a heap more castor, more than you ever imagined that you could have in your life. Fits all S chassis cars and most camber tops. Available to view and purchase here: http://www.gktech.com/index.php/s13-s14-s15-front-castor-tops.html?SID=de5a1174ece57385ec2fbe784aa0c0b2

This reduces the contact patch of your tyres and thus available traction. Rear camber arms will correct this issue. The GKTECH camber arms are a direct replacement of the standard items and are critical to correct camber. These camber arms allow for approximately -3/+3 degrees of camber adjustment. - V2 arms feature 30 degree angle to end to cater for clearance of chassis rails on low cars - V2 arms feature Teflon lined pillow ball rod ends which eliminate the flex found in factory rubber bushing offering a more direct and predictable feel. - V2 arms are manufactured from 1pc billet 7075-T6 (twice the strength of 6061-T6 arms found on the market) - Final weight of 942 grams/pc Vehicle Compatibility: - Nissan S13 Silvia - Nissan 180sx - Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-T - Nissan A31 Cefiro - Nissan S14 200SX - Nissan S15 200SX - Nissan Skyline R33 - Nissan Skyline R34 - Nissan C34 - Nissan C35 The finer details: Almost every other arm on the market has welded sections, and it's very hard to determine its strength because separate from properties of the material that the arm is constructed from, you're relying on the person assembling the arm to be a good welder. I'm sure most people have seen suspension arms with busted welds. We don't have this issue as none of our suspension arms have any welds. (NOTE: the traction and toe arms in the photos on our website have welds on the U end piece, the final version which is in production now will NOT be welded) We understand the importance of a good camber arm and there were a number of requirements that were give to our engineer in the brief to ensure that these new V2 camber arms were the best on the market; light weight to reduce unsprung weight, strong to ensure they didn't break, have an angled end to ensure that low cars or cars with subframe risers didn't have issues with the camber arm hitting the chassis rail, and they needed to have good adjustability. Weight, adjustability and an angled end are easy, strength on the other hand in critical and as such, we hired the services of a Melbourne based engineering firm that is renown for being the best of the best to run an FEA analysis for us (Finite Element Analysis). The image shown with arm in purple is what is called the "FEA mesh" and is used as the basis for and FEA. Here's how the process works: • 3D models are created from 2D CAD drawings • A basic representation of the wheel, upright and suspension links are included in the test to allow more representative points for load application and constraints • Suspension hardpoint locations are measured within a tolerance of 5-10mm And the end result: Based on the loads and assumptions used, the arm is certainly strong enough for the intended application, with stresses remaining well below the yield strength of the material • The safety factor for the static loadcase when compared to material yield strength is ~1.35 • Basic fatigue assessment indicates the arm is capable of sustaining over 1 million cycles of the assumed 1.2g cornering load which equates to 5 x 1.2g cornering loads every kilometer for 200,000km – this is considered to be conservative for this vehicle application. You will be hard pressed to find the above sort of information for ANY camber arm or suspension arm on the market. All GKTECH suspension arms unique to us, are designed and engineered in Australia by professionals and come with a LIFETIME warranty against manufacturing defects.
