The Auction Bargain Bin

Recommended Posts

Just curious the cars you get that come through as Silvias are they mainly CA18DEs? how often do u see turbo modesl such as SRs and CAs?

also kinda new at the whole importing thing, so sorry if this questions noobish :P. What sortta figure u reckon id be looking at for a 180 or Silvia, RAWs compliant in Queensland?

cheers :)

We see the occasional 1988 Siliva K's but then again, so does every other Australian importer, which then pushes up the price. Forget the idea of finding an '88 model with an SR conversion - better chance of finding a unicorn...

Complied ones aren't that expensive anyway. I've sold a couple of SEVS complied 1994 180SXs at $10500 landed and complied.

Dingus - $6-7K mark for a decent one, less if you don't mind higher kms or a bit rougher condition.

^^ for eng pages, google 'yahoo auctions' and you'll see the jap page. then click 'translate this page' (next to the link, in brackets) n it'll be in english.

broken and very strange english, but english nonetheless. :P

*edit* if bad/wrong grammar pissed you off, it is not advisable to do this. having said that, there are some fukn pearlers of 'Japlish' when this method is used :D

The way I see it, the problem with the older imports is that there's a point that you just simply can't get a car into the country any cheaper, so even if you got it for $500, it would still have to owe you at least $3000 - then you've gotta get it on the road.

That said, I don't think you ever find old bargains over there. The Dattos' old school Nissans, Toyotas, etc all seem to go for decent prices.

Then of course you've got the quality issue. That rusty datto is going to have a hard time getting through it's inspection.

If I was to do it I'd make it worthwhile and get a KPGC10 or something.. :)

hehe... I've seen a similar one to that yellow van with a Toyota AE86 Levin front grafted onto the front at the auctions... it even had the panda paintjob and the "fujiwara tofu shop" crap on the side too... was such a hoot.

Hey chef, did you notice at one of today's auction there were louis vutton handbags and a recliner?

^^^ Hahaha, those crazy Japanese. When I was there, the big craze for VIP cars was to chrome space saver wheels and drive around on them...sort of an anti-big dish thing...

Bubs - I didn't keep a close enough eye on them, and I don't have access to auction prices unless I'm specifically bidding on something. Perhaps funkymonkey can fill you in. The Roller would've been up around the $20K back here, at a guess, while the Jags might've been closer to $10K all up.

I just had a vision of the shipping company working out the volume of the yellow yan - would be a scary thing to send RO-RO...:D

Sorry guys - very busy with orders at the moment!

You'd need around $18K for a GT-X (GT-R lookalike), so not $7-8K for them ;) Still want to own one before I die (along with a 22B...)

In the next few days...

The yellow van is a turbo conversion! The Honda is a factory 5 cyl (2.5litre) although I suspect it may be an '89 model rather than '88.

In the next couple of days - that R31 is real tidy. Grade 4 with ARC FMIC, R32 brakes and some other good bits. Would make a real nice drive car. Not one but 3 two door Bluebirds coming up tomorrow, so I've put pics up for you. I want that old school Skyline sedan!!

Friday's picks...

Someone please have a shot at that first R31 - real nice car. My blue manual Cima is back!! I'm going to throw a bid on it again, along with the GC10 sedan. Neil that S/C MR-2 is back again too. Check the flares on the blue Skyline! That KPGC10 replica starts at 800,000 for those interested. The other R31 is a one owner car with 121000kms. A manual S/C AE91 Trueno there, and the Ceffie is auto N/A RB20, but might make a good project starter. The G series Merc is RHD and the Sigma I've included for history's sake - it's the car Mitsu Oz took and widened to make our Magna...

That Cima is sweet, would make a great street or drift car. I'm still looking for a circuit car but want to get something quicker and more modified than the MR2, will probably end up in a local r32 or s13.
