So does anyone here mix and have a proper DJ setup, whether it be CDs or vinyl?

Or are you all casual listeners (nothing wrong with that).

Pavo & Zany - Porn is OOOOOOLD but good. I want it on vinyl, but its too old to source new anymore. Will have to wait til I get a CDJ before I can start mixing with it.

My next episode should have been done over Easter but an important Scantraxx record I want for it has sold out so im going to wait it out.

I'm currently saving for a PROPER dj setup, Im currently just running my mixer/midi controller through my laptop and hooked up the sound to my sterio. I decided id buy sumthing cheap and try it, so if i didnt like it or didnt have time to mix, i wouldnt regret it later.

I love it now..so im saving for a proper setup :D.

Eh?

Is it between 150-155bpm? I know HS like anything and I havent seen anything by those guys that would even resemble it, and when they played at Bass last month with the full Raver Baby crew they were playing normal UK Happy Hard.

AHAHAHHAHA. calm down man. It's just 1 song out of a bazillion in this world. And i dont care what they play at commercial clubs. It's just this one song I enjoy. hence why i put the 'IMO' at the end.

I mix, chop, edit and sample stuff on computer now days. Crystle is broken on the turntable, havent been bothered buying a new one.

the good old days: 1 mixer, 2 'Tape' tracks, 1-2 Turntables, 2 CD players, all going at once :P Home brew lol

^^^ as I told you man, you get what you pay for ;) its an expensive business. :(

Although the advantages of the digital revolution are massive, you cant beat mixing with vinyl IMO. Theres no love using beat counters, pitch bend or auto-beatmatch.

to be totally honest im actually contemplating buying turntables and my mates mixer and being done with it. its cheaper only in teh short term and at least i can get into it but than i have to buy vinyl.

but i think ill eventually want to buy cdjs anyway

If youre going to buy TT's stock up on a few vinyls first, its so frustrating having a set of fresh turntables you wanna let loose on but you only have 5-10 records to spin. I waited til I had about 60 or so before I got my setup sorted. Best sites for vinyl are easily www.vinylwarning.com.au and www.chemical-records.co.uk

If youre curious on a starter kit, check this out from StoreDJ.com.au (Vinyl Warning) http://www.storedj.com.au/products/product.php?id=1457

I reckon ill probably get something like a Denon DNS1000 or Pioneer CDJ200 somteime later in the year - because theres no way im gonna pay triple retail for an old track thats not available on vinyl anymore new when you can get a high quality WAV to spin for about $4.
