Swapping engine from 9:1 to 8:5, tune need to be changed

Recommended Posts

As topic says, I killed my built SR that had 9:1 compression pistons and am going to put a stock 8:5 SR in to replace with everything else the same, will a re-tune be needed or will it be safe

I'd say yes.. But im not 100% sure, more on the yes side though. I't wouldnt hurt at all to tune.

Not worried if it's slightly down on performance just want to keep it happy

If you were raising the compression it would need a retune to pull out timing as it would be dangerous to run, I can't see a problem with it running with lower compression though, but only short term because it'll probably run like crap

This was the line of thinking I was leaning towards but was trying to save the hassle of getting it to the dyno
