Perth members might recognize this thread. In my travels across the internet I found this conversion, which IMO is the hottest conversion I have ever seen.

Who likes it?

Do you prefer it to the original FD?

Feel free to post up some more pics and discuss...

Looks good in the photos but I don't think so much in the flesh, the RX7 and RX8 are so different style-wise...angular front with such a curved bum just isn't right to me. But I think the FDs are close to perfection though

^^I agree with that completely!

Should have put on a nice oval muffler with a dump tip and tinted the rear lights...

Anyone good at photoshop?

i reckon it looks hot,

the only thing i dont love about an fd is the pop up lights.

:o

SIF!

The FD popup lights are hot...they are nice and rounded to look at from the drivers side too compared to the squared off ones on a 180.

But then again, I'm a fan of pop up lights anyways.

This conversion is freaking HOT however, very well done and believable. I dont like the colour either, needs jap tuff rims and I agree lose the clear chrome taillights and stick with some stocko series 8 lights tinted and circles.

headlights and front bar looks good

the rear tails are crap, factory S8 tail lights are the only way to go!

I reckon theyve done a great job. Conversion looks quality and not cheap, and the colour is different but good!

well i love the rx 7.8 i think its a great idea and executed so well......

as for the tail lights they are euro spec series 8 lights ....

i mean i think the fd is the most perfect car shape in the world ....i dont think this looks better than the fd but i just love the way it looks together

maybe next year when i build my fully hektik drift fd i might put an 7.8 kit on it lol......

i was in awe when cliff showed me the pics of this he took in japan ..

Yeah I imagine its not as simple as a sil - 180 conversion. The rx8 would use a diff chassis to the 7 so there would have been bulk custom work thats gone into this one. Still every time I look at the pics I get pants happy.
