Power figures for stockish setups

Unless you guys are comparing cars on the same dyno and at the same time of day, your comparison is useless. If you're that concerned, take it to a happy dyno and then go down the pub and brag your nuts off!!!

 

 

regardless of dyno, for what he has, its not right.

ive seen dyno differences as high as 20kw..... add another 20kw on to his original figure and people would say "yeah, that seems about right". The only thing that seems out of the ordinary is his boost level. For people to sit back and start bagging a tuner when they have no idea about the conditions the car was tested under is stupid.

1) 3" turbo back exhaust and air filter

2) Walbro Fuel Pump

4) Turbosmart Bleed Valve

 

 

Boost level:

10 PSI

 

Power Output (rwhp):

220rwhp

900 ft. lbs. (Torque) (that's at 3000rpm, LOL) holds pretty much all the way to redline.

 

 

Extra: Standard Computer. Just threw that Boost Tee in and 10psi later that's my figure...lol.

Torque and power are inescapably linked by the fact that horsepower equals torque (in ft-pounds) times RPM divided by 5250, so people who talk as if they are independent are full of it.

 

900x3,000 = 2,700,000

2,700,000/5,250 = ~514HP

Made a similar thread a while back but mods closed it coz it was apparently a repost of a pinned Turbo Reference Guide So attempt No.2

 

This thread is like "Turbo Reference Guide" but ONLY for cars with stock turbos, so people who have stockish setup can see how healthy their engine is and how effective some bolt on mods are in comparison with other similar setups.

 

NOTE TO MODS: Please don't close this as it's NOT the same as "Turbo Reference Guide" it's more like "Stock Turbo Reference Guide"!!! Thanks

 

Anyway the format is as follows:

 

Make and model: 180sx

 

Size/Type of engine: SR20DET REDTOP

 

Transmission: Manual

 

Modifications to the car(detailed):

1) Trust GTR Twin Inlet Cooler (Tube n Fin)

2) 3 Inch Dump/Front, 3 Inch Cat-out pipe, 3 inch cat-back apexi n1

3) K&N Pod

4) Walbro 500

 

 

Boost level:

12psi (13 on a cold night)

Power Output (rwkw):

RPM's Dyno: 173 (Previous owner, before fuel pump and with some cheap shitty pod)

Turbo Tune: 159 (current mods, but possible with leaking turbo & dump gasket, and a VERY blown manifold gasket)

Transmission: Stock CA w/ Cushioned Button

Boost level: 10psi (0.6) bar

 

Power Output (rwkw): 155rwkw / 207.78hp

Transmission: Manual/twin plate clutch

 

Modifications to the car(detailed):

1) custom front mount

2) VL turbo pump with surge tank and primer, 850cc rx7 injectors

3) Rush Pod

4) Profecb 2

5) engine is japspec so what ever the jap s14 stock turbo is

 

 

Boost level:

12psi = 180rwkw (standard plugs)

19psi = 203rwkw (plugs need smaller gap (0.6mm))

 

full boost on 19psi at 3250 rpm

next im getting Z32 AFM + remapping standard ecu and also hiflowing my injectors to 700cc - hoping for 210kw... then next stage in january next year is gonna be HKS step 2 264 11.5mm lift cams, HKS cam gears and springs/retainers/ras kit

oh and btw... my goal is to beat gee200 and break 230kw on bp98 and standard turbo... ive made a bet with a few other mates... so money is on the line!

2) 3 Inch Nismo exhaust

3) K&N Air filter

4) HKS EVC

 

 

Boost level: 8psi / 11psi

Power Output (rwkw): 130rwkw @ 8psi and 149.7rwkw on 11psi with boost dropping back to 9psi at redline due the HKS EVC not holding boost.

blowed the oil seal in the stock t28, got a new t28bb +tomei dump and front pipe come monday!!

 

some s15 injectors and better afm may get some scope to the magik 190+with some good tinkering..heres hoping anyways!!!

Just made 163KW on 15 PSI on my s15 but was told that its really bout 185 duw to it being done in 4th and 5th its a closer 1:1 ratio for the s15 but yea

 

mods are

 

FMIC

PFC

Pump (unknown brand)

3in ex

z32

 

Plans T518z 8cm

Stage 2 cams

injectors

 

The car is nice to drive and im very happy with the new built motor (done by street force TOP WORK)

did ya get ya 210rwkw

 

made 194.8kw on 18psi with the cams

 

timing is retarded on the cams and need an adjustable gear... so my valves arent shutting correctly... so ive got the hks adjustable exhaust pulley now

 

will be going on this saturday and hopefully my car wont run like a laggy bucket of poo
