I always like seeing creepy crawly pics!! Theres some good detail in the fly pics!!

If you love macro stuff, i highly suggest you get a good macro lens with a ring flash. It will be worth it!!

What slr and lens you using atm?

using olympus e520 and used a olympus 35mm f3.5 macro lens for the last few. had a friend fly over to vegas and got him to pick me one up so was $250 which is awesomely cheap :) so im happy with what it can do for a cheap lense.

but really need the flash ring as you said cause i cant zoom in close enough without blocking the light. but was looking up about diffusers last night so i might be able to make something up out of opaque plastic and see if it helps with lighting a bit..

i was having problems with the in built flash being cut off when i was zoomed in close and it would leave a dark shadow across the bottom of my picture , so i was looking into buying a new flash and stumbled across this ... http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/viewedits.php?mid=6352600&page=2

basically a soft box? not to sure but it fixed my problem by spreading the light, and making the shadow from the flash no were near as harsh..

even tho you guys prob no all that thought it was still worth sharing in case some one else was having the same problem and doesnt wanna buy a new flash due to cost..is easy and cheap (piece of paper :P)

so this is what i came up with after looking like a fool and being payed out by my brothers(which they all ready do when im walking around the garden with my camera)

was able to get much more detail and better colours :)

and this is from the link, what fixed the issue :D

this is what was happening when i was zoomed with the flash on

WOW that first shot of the fly is amazing!!! Wonderful work on the DIY diffuser too btw.. For 250 bucks for the lens you cant complain at all..

Yea deff invest in the ring flash if you keen on going serious with macro stuff.

n yeah just done the car in a few different layers(darkened sections, contrast here n there and stuff) and blended it back together so it stands out more from the background. aP2289561.jpg
