Fishing spots in Adelaide

So who has some tips for fishing off the shore?

 

What is Power station like these days and what are the catching?

 

IF ANY MODS WANT TO MOVE/DELETE THIS THREAD CAN YOU LET ME KNOW SO I CAN SAVE IT TO MY HDD.

Suitable tackle/Rigs

 

Bait

 

And fish targeted in the area would be appreciated..

 

 

basically looking for any 2wd accessible ( short walk etc is fine) spots to spend a few hrs here and there..

 

catch a feed :)

 

 

i grew up in coffin bay/port lincoln area.. so can return the favour for info.. but know nothing about the Adelaide and surrounding area..

bait tackle rigs they good eating???

 

and should we use different spools of line for fresh/salt water??

 

 

ive never fished fresh water..

Can get Mulleys west lakes if you are patient, or on the other side of the bidge in the Port, of ure up 4 a drive 2nd valley and walk the cliff till you get to the cave

Im not much of a fisherman lol, but even i cought a couple mullet out at waitpinga, used surf rods/reels, some el cheapo mono line and cockles :P was good cheap fun

 

decent spot for camping there aswell, $10 donation i think it is, 2wd accessible theres a little hut thing and some flat tent spots

lots of salmon trout coming from the end of st.kilda breakwater currently, taking small blade lures.

 

A few mullet also around glenelg beaches if you berley.

or point riley just outside walleroo everytime we have been there get snapper off the rocks without fail

I've never had any luck up the gorge, have seen a few trout around in small streams but never got onto one.

josh, and others..

 

im looking at buying all new gear.. not full $$$$ gear.. but basics again. as all my normal stuff is down at my shack at coffins.

 

what you guys suggest? 7-8' rod/real combos for around 100$

 

and for general fishing 12lb line?

 

have been looking at PENN combos at kmart for around 89$

 

and BCF have some Abu Garcia combos for 100 or so.

go down to sports fishing scene i think it is (will double check) speak to Rob he is the only dude in there top dude he will hook ya up with a good deal good stuff for starting out and combo packages

candyman.. far from starting out.. been fishing close to 25yrs.. but all of it in the coffin and west coast areas..

 

just want some general purpose stuff to use in Adelaide since i live here now.

 

wouldn't be Rob Hutchison would it ?

not 100% sure thats his last name he is an older fella, he always looks after us even us ringing ahead to grab more bait and he will leave it at the door 4 us or keep the store open longer top dude

Fair few decent sized squid being caught oiff of porties petty, but nothing else :P

tackle.... anything with a jig :P

if you got a boat, plenty of spots out at st kilda, if not walking out on the st kilda rocks is alright with the right patience

lol@ pickering, saw him parked on the side of gorge and pull out a fising rod!!! there always seems to be people parked on gorge on the wkend!!

i still have my butterworth he gave me when i was 14... and it still pulls in a feed 16 yrs later.. aye Softy ;)

for around town i brought a saratoga rod of ebay with 4 different tips (all different firmness) wich cost me like 20 bucks and has pulled in some decent fish but my reel i paid $300 so not sure what is decent in the cheaper brand maybe an Abu Garcia or something.

abu garcia is awesome

i got one the reels n love it

 

im so trying gorge soon lol

but powerplant is good for bream

or in pt adelaide before the bridge but kinda hard to explain where, just near a fenced of section

all this talk of fishing.. and we just organised a charter plane across to coffins for 3 days fishing next weekend.. hahahhaha

The new home place at Gepps Cross has got a new fishing camping and boating store in there they had rods on sale for there opening worth a suss, other wise just head down port waikfield road to sports fishing scene there are 2 fihing stores there 1 being Robs and they both got good deals on rods down there all the time, just got a new surfy from there at easter

got a BCF around corner from me. will be checking it out soon...

 

and next week.. stocking up on some basic tackle.. flying home to coffins for 3 days fishing.. and ill bring some of my gear back.. since its basically our plane.. i can bring back what i want :D so i should be reasonably set up again!

Hey Softy...tell us when & where u r going...we will drop off some tucker & "pickle juice" to keep u warm ! That 's all us Ol' folks r good 4 these days...still it's meant to be pissing down on the w/end...u dont want to freeze ur crystals off.
