Autotmotive - Technicians, Apprentices

I'm looking at getting into the automotive industry for motor mechanics.

Well anyway for example, if I got to choose any dealership to work at. What would the be the best?

Best can be defined as, what type of bonuses you get, special training, tools, motor driving days, cost prices etc etc.

I've got one mate who works at a Porsche dealership, and he seems to get special training along where he goes over to Sydney? to do training every once in a while, and he also regularly goes to motor driving days with the customers.

The above could just be a Porsche only thing, so I'd like to know who you work for and do you get anything special, that maybe another company/make doesn't offer.

Ie. What the Company ITSELF provides for apprentices, as a company training policy or whatever.

So answers would be great like this:

Who you work for:

What bonuses/specials/perks you get:

What you think of working for *your dealership/work*

Heard anything decent about other companies offering special things..

Where you think the best place to work would be:

and just general comments would be awesome.

Cheers in advanced.

being a mechanic was the worst decision i have ever made.

The job is not worth the pay and not worth screwing up your back for.

that is why i quit. plus i worked at a shit place.

Dont become a mechanic - you'll wreck your back, work long hard hours for shit pay, only be able to work on your car if you are at a small workshop (dealerships are all cutting that out due to insurance bullshit)

I've worked at MErcedes for 5 years, did training at TAFE and did Benz Apprenticeship courses, specialised courses and 1 track day. Go be a sparky or chippy and be able to afford a good car and not have to scrape by.

Im going back to uni for the next 5 years to try and get myself a good job and a good place in life. being a mechanic will not allow this!!!!
