On the topic of gear and the dollar being awesome, any US sites i should check out?

I recently made a purchase through

www.revzilla.com - They where awesome and really helpful. They also price matched a competitors site who had the item I wanted cheaper but not in my size. Down side is a $299 minimum spend is needed. Works out ok when your buying a whole bunch of gear or get some gear with a mate.

www.sportbiketrackgear.com - Are also great to deal with, both are safe and have fast response if you have any questions.

Remember to always try on the gear in store before you buy.

Yeah, I got that jacket through Revzilla, were very helpful with my questions and replied pretty much straight away, and they did me a deal on shipping too.

Only reason I went with them over sportsbiketrackgear.com was they advertised shipping to Aus.

guys, just wondering how long it took you to get your stuff from revzilla?

i ordered a whole bunch of stuff, on the 22nd of last month. i sent them an email and they informed me that the stuff i ordered were in different warehouses around america, and had to be collated before they sent it all off, which is fair enough. the order then shipped from america on the 2nd of november. i thought i should have received the goods by now...

I'm not sure about this group, but i do ship/receive items from the US quite a bit.

Unless it was sent via an Express/Overnight service, you need to allow around 10 business days (14days total).

It's shit, but it's unfortunately the way it works.

1-4days within USA

2-3days travel/customs to Aus

2-5days within Aus.

If it was sent via an express air service, you should receive it within 2-4business days.

It is still an ADR requirement to have headlights on whilst bike ignition is running. Tho I have a switch that allows me to turn mine off for when I need to start the bike with low battery charge. Have you ever tried to start a v-twin with EFI and two globe headlight with a low battery? :(

I ride around during the day with high beam on. I want those idiots in their tin tops to see me.

Also, someone buy my Brutale. I need a big bore kit for the TLR.

Well went to get my Ps on the weekend, booked the whole day course. Practiced for 2 hours in the morning and then went off for a 30 mins break. Bike was performing fine. No noises, issues, lights etc. Parked it in the sun and came back to do the test! exciting!

Turn key, flip kill switch. Bzzzzzzzt. Nothing. No dash, no lights, no power. Nothing.

Pulled the seats off to get to the battery and fuses, battery OK, connections fine, Main fuse is blown. WTF? OK no prob I have a spare. BZZZT. gone as soon as I contacted it. OK.... root around a bit more, press some plugs, wiggle some wires. Last spare.. BZZZT.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

(doesnt quite cover it)

So I had the option to use one of stay uprights bikes for the rest of the day (at a cost of $100!) or rebook at another time, refund and stuff yet to be determined. Id BETTER get a refund out of it, seriously!

Anyway, I called Joes Motorcycles (Hyo Dealer) and they came and picked it and me up and its being looked at today. Given the bike has

Fingers crossed I get a call back today.

always the worst feeling when you get amped up for a ride and you go to fire it and it wont start, I've had electrical components fail on two of my bikes and been stranded

did you not feel comfortable using one of their bikes? the ergonomics would be very similar to your comet

Im sure next time you'll kill it

Just got off the phone with Stay upright and itll be $100 to rebook the course or I can just do the test at no charge (as ive already paid for it)

I didnt really get anything out of the morning so im just going to do the test when I get my bike back, rang the shop and theyre looking into it this afernoon. Fingers crossed it something obvious.

Yeah, nah, Hyo sounds like a good bit of kit alright  You say you practiced for 2 hours before hand and it was running fine?

Did it get really hot doing all that low speed crap for so long? my bike would not like it at all.

Yeh it wouldve been warm. Parked it in the sun on the tarmac.

I think somethings let go behind the headlight in the front. Its def shorting on the chassis somewhere and it looks pretty tight in there and all the slow speed lock to lock stuff probably tugged something loose.

OK so Joes have fixed it up. 3 issues found.

1. Main fuse shorting. Cause: Reg Rectfier wires were kinked and touching causing the short. guessing due to constant lock to lock one the bike they stretched and kinked.

2. Air box filling with petrol. Cause: 'big lump of crap' in the fuel rail. Would also explain why my FI light has been blinking at me for the last week.

3. Oil polluted with fuel. Cause: i forget but they changed the oil so thats an extra $50

Total damage: ~$400 including the tow.

Im going to check if the reg rectifier issue should be a warranty job. Dont much feel like paying for that given its

Ouch $400

Why was there "a big lump of crap" in the fuel rail, do these bikes run a fuel filter?

Fuel in the oil is also concerning

It should all be under warranty for a 3000km old bike

Parking it in the sun doesn't matter hahaha (i park in the sun all the time, bike shops park there bikes in the sun for like, 8 hours of the day hahha)

....doing low speed shizzle with no air getting into it can cause problems tho.

Sell it. Quick. If it's only 3k old, and had allllll these problems already, that's a problem for every 1000kms

...think it's worth keeping for more problems to arise?? :D

Sell it on the quick after I get my Ps and get what? a Ninja 250? Only other LAMS bike that interests me is the Suzuki SV650 but thatll be an extra couple of grand over what Id get for the Hyo (maybe 7k)

read through the Hyo manual and 'wiring' is not covered under warranty. But I did get a free tow so total came up to just over $300. Fuel got in the oil via the breather pipe in the airbox, no biggie now its fixed and wont fill up again.

That's effed up, wiring is part of the bike ffs, that tells me they know there wiring is shit and could come back to bite them...

Or maybe they feel there wiring is that good it will never fail? dunno, doesn't sound right/fair.

It might be 2-3k more for the Sv650 than what you would get for your Hyo but it would prob be worth it in the long run yeah? More reliable,

enjoyable (because ya not worried about reliability) fun while ya waiting to get ya full's.

The Hyos plenty of fun to ride, craps all over my ZZR250. I dont think ill get tired of it on my Ps as its plenty quick enough and handles/stops well, cheap to get parts for etc. I looked at a Suzi SV but couldnt get the extra cash <_>

Its insured for 3k more than I bought it for so worst case Ill have an 'accident' and get something else.

I really have no love for the Hyosungs, so I'll keep it short and sweet ... :P

I've had 3-4 mates now buy those things and they had nothing but problems with them. Some similar to yours, others worse. Get rid of it.

Even for the extra coin, the SV650 would be more enjoyable to ride. The SV to the Hyo is the same comparison you're making now between the Hyo and your old ZZR. Pay the extra coin and step up to a better LAMS approved bike.

And how the f**k do they get away with not covering the wiring under warranty. Contact consumer affairs. Even if they have that clause in writing, its bullshit ... and consumer affairs will f**k that shit up. Get the SV and stand by a bike that the manufactuer/dealer will stand by.
