I voted the way i did because its what i have on my car, its on my car because my tuner would not fit cheap shit. mine is a blitz,

But unless you chasing big power a cooler is a cooler, they all have similar presssure drop etc etc, hybird kits are just as good.

An expensive cooler wont make any extra power you basicly just pay for the name.

GKTECH, no holes in battery tray I put one in after a big generic fmic it's smaller and more piper but found it better in lower revs.

Only 599 for a kit too

Depending on what you want to use the car for will determine what type of intercooler you will get.

+1

Tube and Fin = Better Flow (Drag Racing)

On the track for a lesser amount of time and need all the air it can get for those sub 10 secs.

Bar and Plate = Better Cooling (Circuit Work)

On track for a longer amount of time, heat rises rapidly, need all the cooling it can get.

That's how I see it.

^^^ this

the reason why you would buy a branded kit over a china kit is fitment and quality. china kits dont fit very well, the joiners and clamps arent very good either, and generally you cant run an airbox with the setup. nothing to say you can go cheap on the core and then pay more for better fitting pipe work though. like anything you buy though. FULSH IT OUT BEFORE YOU USE IT. get your hands on an air gun and blow through the core to make sure theres no swarf or dirt etc in there.

I bought a PWR kit a few years ago it was expensive but the quality, finish and fitment was absolutely perfect well worth the money it even came with a new alloy undertray

That articel was pretty spot on

To give an example

I had a better quality "chinese" 3-inch tube and fin on my S14 and it made 330rwkW on race fuel. When I sprayed nitrous on the cooler during a run it made 350rwkW.

I then installed a 4-inch bar and plate ( needed to be thicker to flow enough) and it made 350rkW WIHTOUT the nitrous being sprayed.

So bar and palte cools better but needs to be bigger to flow as good as tube and fine

Also, the tube and fin weighed 6kg while the bar and plate weighed 11kg. But I'll take the extra 20kW and better cooling thanks.

But then again, it depends on design etc

remember one thing though. The more material in the cooler, the more heat it can absorb and dissipate, so the old "lighweight" sales pitch is rubbish.

Also, it depends on applciation. i have Saber intercooler on my drift car and it works killer!!! But the car makes 230rwkW, not 350

thanks for that guys :) and thanks for that last comparrison with your car and different coolers :) i think i might either go a cheap bar and plate or an expensive tube and fin.. not quite sure yet.. my car is practically stock.. and i dont plan to spend to much money on other parts. maybe i will get away with an ebay cooler. also, would an ebay cooler with its piping and hoses be able to hold 14psi for the turbo

That is cheap!!!!!! Ive seen people buy junk kits for 400 then spend another 400 on buying betterclamps abd silicon and modifying it to fit. Buy thr cheap Greddy kit and be done with it.

Im in the market for a cooler now, thought I'd post in here instead of making a new thread..

So cant decide between Blitz SE kit ($700 JustJap) or the Greddy Spec LS (around $650ish)

Can someone help point me in the right direction? Or have another suggestion, would prefer to stay with a good well known brand name.

Thanks

You know how I know your gay? you dont read before you edit some ones post.... I didnt have problems fitting the FMIC, all pipes fitted perfect, and there wasnt a single bolt missing.

Yea I think I realized at the time when I edited it that you were talking about the bar and not the intercooler. But then I was like f**k it, cbf editing it and making the post constructive.

(can't delete on iPhone)

I wouldn't trust the integrity or such a cheap item anyway though, not just fitment wise.

LOL I had to use that quote (You know how I know your gay?), Some one said it at work 2 day ROFL.

Iv got the EBC which read boost and a boost gague, and it only reads as a 2PSI diffrence. Its a pretty large FMIC core.

But is it flowing as fast or cooling as efficient as a GReddy or Blitz?

If your not tracking it I doubt it will ever matter though.

It dose, I have never had any real issues.

Hybrid coolers flow better than pwr coolers which my mate proved on his skyline. Even greddy flow better than pwr.

this might be a retarded question, but on my core i got some dented fins...can i just take it off and flip it the other way so it hides the dents...

does the direction of the core make a difference?
