the global warming theory or the broken window economics theory... I'm just saying...

if you break a window... you give the window fitter a job and the glazier a job as well and you circulate money... same scenario works with war...

you start one or retaliate to one... you give a soldier war, a factory worker work to make tanks, aeroplanes and ships, you hand an overseas farmer and food producer work to feed an army and on top of that have the privilege to deprive a state of its precious resources...

it can do plenty to the unemployment rates currently seen worldwide

The window fitter gets a job, but the window owner loses money in order to pay for the new window, which if they didn't have a broken window they could've used to pay for something else. War doesn't create capital, it destroys it.

War is half the reason the US is in so much debt at the moment you knob. Do you know how much it costs to run two major wars within 10 years?

sometimes its not good to simply look at debt value on face value... you have to take into account the gains that the US is receiving from such wars... Iraq for instance... installing a US friendly regime in the second largest oil reserve in the world...

The US debt during and after WWII was one of the largest debts the world has ever seen... but what happened, the US fought the Nazi's and the Japanese empire... creating virtually zero unemployment in the process... the unemployment rate in the US and the Eurozone at the moment is pretty much the only thing weighing down their economies, banks don't want to lend because unemployment is too high and businesses don't want to employ because they can't borrow...

But this isn't 1939 and people aren't rallying to factories to do their bit for the economy.

America has dug a massive whole just to prove it can and even if they 'win' in the MEAO they will have almost irreversibly damaged their economy.

1.1 trillion dollars and counting...

There is no doubt that America is in decline as a power, but it will always be very strong. It has a large population and like all countries its economy will ride some waves at the moment it is riding a bit of a tsunami. American decline will be more as a result of being overtaken by the large population countries who are increasing their economic wealth.

War often does kickstart economies, can't argue with that, war CAN be good for your economy, it CAN also bankrupt governments. I don't why you have pulled out the Detroit example? Doesn't really make much sense?

Detroit is pretty much bankrupt at the moment due to poor economic sense...

if the "motoring city" of the world was smart they would have cashed in through environmentally friendly cars when they had the chance... or built cars which people actually wanted to buy, I'd rather buy a Hyundai or Daewoo these days then drive something from GM...

has nothing to do with the current wars being fought...

Totally correct and the importance of health plans. It has nothing to do with warfare.

problem is that the wars arent run to profit a country, rather a small group of individuals. in economic terms moves the assets of waring countries to the small number of ppl who profit from them, ie defence contractors etc

True but handing out production and design contracts etc have clear economic flow on effects, employment being the number one.

butts yeah, might create employment, but u ever heard the term working poor, its modern day slavery. basically government of a nation pays a company to outfit the army etc, people who actually make the weaponry armor etc get shit all wages because the lowest bidder usually wins. then the people in the top echelon of the company get paid the big bucks and evade paying tax. so you have a situation where the tax base increases by much less than what goes out.

and what about russia, at least they dont half ass things like america does. that and as a result of a long tradition of spending heaps of cash on the military and not much on the people the living standard over there is mostly shit.

That is income inequality every capitalist economy has it and the US is one of the worst offenders, but the effects are still felt. I actually think the weapons industry requires skill workers who actually do reasonably well. But yeah the big wigs always make the big money.

Russia spends an amount they cant afford at the expense of other industries and welfare.

butts yeah only problem is that when it comes to defense contractors get paid in public funds as opposed to normal businesses who source their funds from private sector mostly.

so instead of govt spending on schools/healthcare etc they spend on military so u have a bunch of unfit deadshits with shiny new planes. . hang on. . welcome to the USA.

No country in the history of the world who has WMD has ever been invaded by another country. The US very well knew IRAQ didn't have WMD thats why they went in.

Think about really it isn't a smart move invading a country with WMD because as soon as you start to win they nuke the world.

In all honesty ALL countries need NUKES it will STOP all wars or at least country vs country wars. Think of it like a train with 50 passengers and ALL of them have a gun and enjoy each other company some more than others and some people don't really like each other but they put up with their shit for the sake of peace. Are you going to rob a passenger? f**k NO! Even if they have a gold Rolex and big sack of cash.

Interesting theory, but sadly all it takes is for one crazy passenger on the train who doesn't have anything to lose or doesn't fear consequences and all hell can break loose. So far only relatively stable/sensible countries have effective nuclear arms.
