herror all.

Just creating a little gallery for myself to keep track of my photos as I progress over time. I am a total n00bie to photography, but I am about to dive head first into it :D

I will post images from time to time, feel free to give constructive critisism.

My first shots straight out of the box :D Better shots at the bottom of this page.

Thanks Sidd.

I just saw somone else's droplet photos, blew my mind..

I think I am going to have to look into which lens is better for it.

I used my 18-55mm lens in that pic, the pics of the *awsome* ones I saw earlier were done with a 100-300mm...but I assume that must be a macro lens? I guess I shall read up :D

I'm pretty sure my 55-200mm lens is tele so probably wont work haha.

Did my first panarama today...came out alright.

Those tuts helped a fair bit Sidd :D thanks.

I don't quite have the elaborate setup that the pros have haha, I had to improvise :P flashlight under one arm, waterbottle with a hole in it in the other hand, some food dye and furious clicking away bahah...really makes me want to get a macro lens, the really explosive images blurred...too much action for my 18-55mm...still, some sweet results. out of the 200 odd shots, these 6 were the best.

My first ever attempt at HDR, just a random shot for testing. I can tell I am going to enjoy this style in the future.

Just got back from a week of roaming around taking photos, I think im starting to get to know my camera a little better, still a long way to go though.

Here are some of the better shots from this week. I took about 1000 shots but I wont kill your internet and upload them all hahah.

But yeah, im happy with the outcome, 4,500ks of driving, resulted in some nice images.

This is the only HDR shot from the week I will upload for now, the rest are all much of muchness..

Use your timer if you dont have a remote, cheap easy tip.

Shots are looking nice

yeah my timer max is 30 seconds, then its bulb...but even pressing the trigger moves the camera... :(

i think he means have the shutter delay. Put it on self timer mode for 2 or 5 seconds so you dont get the shake from pushing the button.

With the static star shots you want to soak in as much light as possible before you get star trails.

- 10 to 30 second exposure (experiment with this and make sure there are no trails)

- highest ISO possible. Soak in all the light and see how the image looks like. Then adjust settings from there.

- wide open aperture.

- Manual focus and also turn the lens to infinity (or close to)

- turn in camera noise reduction off.

- turn IS off as you will be using a tripod.

- Use remote shutter cable to reduce vibrations.

The quickest way to learn how long your exposure can be without star trails is to use rule of 600. So the way to determine this is to divide the focal length by 600. Eg) 24mm focal length: 600/24= 25 second exposure before getting star trails.

Here is an image I started playing with today.

Went down to a nearby highway overpass and took some shots so I could have a play and edit in some scenery from the recent trip as well as some other bits and peices, still a bit more to do but its looking good so far I think :D

take a photo from an elevated angle from a distance.

open image in photoshop, create duplicate layer, do a lens blur, create layer mask (reveal all), clear out the areas you want to show clarity again, done!....play around with colours to suit.

Well I said I was going to take city shots next, but I ended up in the mt cootha botanical gardens instead haha. One of the harder parts of doing this stuff is picking which images I like the most :D anyway, here are the top 20 of 300 I took today. I really really want to get my hands on a ultra wide angle lens, I have been looking at the 10-22mm range, so expencive though :o

Makes me wonder if I want to do this professionaly, I should probably turf the 1jz S13 and the R32 and just get a normal car and go all out on equipment..I will play it safe though and give it some time.

keep at it you will get there. Photography is an expensive hobby if you want to do it professionally and charing people. Its not just about having all the latest gear. But im sure you will figure all this out soon. Just keep taking photos.

Some good shots in that set.
