Vroom vroom C33 Laurel build.

Hey guys,

 

Buying my 3rd Laurel next week and hoping its gonna be 3rd time lucky.. Dropping a fair bitta coin into it and aiming to make it one of the best laurels in Aus..

 

Problem is im stumped on what motor to run.

 

My first laurel was rb25de+tt.. with 232kw DSC_9426.jpg

What should i put in this one? stay with the RB culture?? or turn to the darkside and go SR? or even 1J.. im not sure but looking for decent power but overall reliability..

 

anyways heres some pics of what it used to look like, and some ones of how it currently sits with stock kit and no running gear. lol.. (the gold Laurel obviously) lol

looks like a good base to start with. my vote goes to a 1/2jz since your spending coin on it and it would be cool shit

yer it did..

 

yer i know so did I, but it needed alot of work and was pretty pig.. this thing is pretty neat and wanna build a fairly reliable/competive car, cause ive promised the missus il be keepin it for a while.. haha..

 

yer, unsure of where to find a full 1/2j package though.. nothing in SA really..

Im pretty sure Japanese Import Spares have a 1j with everything u need and manual gearbox.

Try JDM spares aswell, they seem to have a fair bit, facebook em if u cant find their site..

something to think about man, you can pickup a full NA 2jz package for around the $500-600 mark with auto box. get an r154 and choose your turbo setup. a good mate of mine ran his 2jz-ge+T in his r31 drag car. made 340ishrwkw on e85 through a built c4 auto and ran a 9.80. completely stock internals, with a manual box it would be 360-380rwkw. if your on the 1j path though just get a vvt one out of a jzx100. the reliability of the older ones is starting to deminish.

Quick update, things have been going slow.. I been waiting on my motor and finally got it..

 

Ordered a 6 boost manifold and my 3082 turbo should be here in next few days..

 

 

 

Now all i need is injectors and afm and get my 26 box modded.., then slap it all in and figure out who i should take it to to get tuned..

 

so yerrrrrrr

Few pics..

 

got another pair of 17x10 meshies. now has a full set :)

 

ended up buying a freshly built forged 25. and a GTR box (just got it modded to suit rwd)

 

Just picked up the 3082r

 

Ordered a 6 boost steampipe mani, and turbo smart gate

 

Now deciding whether to run bid aftermarket injectors, or my hi flowed standard ones (660s)

 

Once its all in, then I gotta try to figure out steering setup and knuckles etc..

 

Any comments or input appreciated :)

I wouldn't go anything less than 740cc injectors If it's a fully built 25! IMO you need room for that little bit more! High flowed standards will max out for sure!

Soooo, for the last 5 months, i pretty much havent touched the Laurel. Work and family has had priority. Plus i just havent had the enthusiasm.

 

After watching the last round of ADGP, i have got my arse into gear and smashed it all together. got some cooler piping knocked up thanks to Metalcrew Fabrications.

 

Now i just need some turbo lines made, and setup the fuel system. Wait til tailshaft is made to suit the 26 box.

 

Then TUNE TIME!!!!

 

All going well, Aim is G1 rnd 2 in SA on July 1st..

Ok, so after letting the Laurel sit in the shed for the last few months.

 

I have finally had the time to order some parts and put some shit together..

 

Got a 33 cheappp of a mate.. really only wanted the 25 box and 5 stud shit. So the decision to strip it was confirmed. 534664_10152009752870425_102872521_n.jpg

 

That was done.. Now i have a low km 25 box. Got rid of the 26 box i had originally planned top use..

 

Bought some 18x9.5 Work 11R's and 18x10 XD9s

 

Just got my steampipe exhaust and some splitfires..

 

Now i have everything except clutch and inlet manifold..

 

So there next weeks buy..

 

If anyone could recommend a decent clutch.. thinking of NPC or ORC..

 

Then its party time :)
