Ok so it's not just me. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but hopefully the mods see this and fix this for us.

Cheers

I tell you what's pissing me off... and it started happening 2 weeks ago, no idea how to fix it!

I get no daily digest when people reply to my watched threads!!!!

So much anger at such a small thing.

So I've been forced to manually check for new posts.

Anyone else????

Changed nothing.

Using Firefox 5.0.1 on OSX 10.6.8

For your ad problems:

Step one, do yourself a favour and go to Notepad++ download site; download and install it.

Step two, go here and download one of the files. I recommend the 0.0.0.0 format, the txt version; open it with Notepad++.

Step tres, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and create a copy of the 'hosts' file for backup, and open the original with your newly downloaded Notepad++.

Step quatre, in Notepad++ click onto the tab with the file you downloaded and hit Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C.

Step cinque, click the tab with your hosts file, hit Ctrl+A, Ctrl+P, Ctrl+S.

Step sechs, click the start button, type 'services.msc' and hit enter. Once it pops up, look through the list until you find 'DNS Client', right click -> properties. In the Start-up type drop-down, select 'Disabled'. You might want to stop it too by clicking the 'Stop' button below. Click OK, and your ads should now be gone.

Keep in mind, this stops all the ads on all the pages. Also keep in mind that it might block some sites you actually want to visit. I know this is the case for the chrome extensions store. When this happens you need to open your hosts file with Notepad++ and find your site in the list(use ctrl+f). once you do, put a hash (#) in front of it, and save. Your site should now work.

Case in point, for the chrome store, ctrl+f 'clients2.google.com'. Once you find it, put '#' in front of the 0.0.0.0 (or 127.0.0.1 if that's the version you have) for that url, so the whole line of text looks like this -> #0.0.0.0 clients2.google.com. Also do the same for clients3-5 and cr-tools.clients.google.com.

You're welcome.

I've worked it out. You just have to wait a couple of seconds for the ad to load properly.

eg. if you scroll on one the drop down menus before the ad has finished loading, as it was loaded second it goes over the top of the menu.

I'm no web expert don't know how else to explain it.

EDIT: probably only one second

I've got Ad Block Plus for Firefox.

(tip to the guys, it means no ads when you watch porn)

Also it stops those f**king annoying youtube ads which piss me off to no end.

Are you talking of those pre-video ones? If you stop them the video doesn't play coz they are the same programing base as the video... or some BS like that that my comp.science mate told me.
