Hey Guys,

First Post...

Just got a 180sx (with a typex SR20DET) and it came with a ridiculous Nismo cat back with a cannon the size of my face.

I am dead set on Blast Pipes for the look and sound, but am curious whether or not I will be defected.

So its simply a decated cat back at the moment and will be chopping the muffler our to fit the new pipes obviously.

Ahh any advice would be much appreciated....

Cheers

Julz

I'd be more worried about being defected for no cat then to loud

Theres plenty of people out there that buy a tig welder, make blast pipes and call themselves fabricators... if you buy their products... its very loud and you probably will get defected...

The only way to be safe about it is buy proper japanese exhaust part... like TRUST DD exhaust system

They are very rare because they are a discontinued item. But I have one of these that I have no need for, so if your keen shoot me a pm :)

Thats only because your not making enough power to max out the standard cat

if you wanna run blast pipes and not be defected you'll need a some sort of cat and a muffler, as blast pipes offer no noise reduction.

how do we know if he is a real OG or not? :P

in saying that, if your going to the effort to get sweet blast pipes put on or whatever, you may as well spend an extra 200 and get a new hi flow cat just because..

Why do i see everyone saying run a cat or mid? ffs man up and have 3inch straight through!

Yeah they're loud... on load. gurantee you wont get looked as much as someone who has a 5inch cannon.

you can be defeceted for them. thats a definent. just depends on whether you want another mod to stick out that you could be defected for?

^^^^ that's how I run it. No cat just mid muffler.

And I've got the blast pipes. Had them for about 8 months now never once been pulled over. Mind you they are loud as f**k

didnt get the exhaust finished but at least its all tacked up

ill finish welding it up tomorrow then ill give it a coat of high temperature matte black paint

3inch dump pipe ( v band turbo exhaust housing flange )

i made the dump pipe and front pipe 2 pieces which makes it easier to fit

TiAL MVS 38mm external gate with screamer pipe

now check out the road clearance!!! this is what u call a tucked up exhaust

this is the best thing about custom made parts u can build them to suit your needs

there is no off the shelf exhaust system on the market which has this sort of road clearance and keep in mind this is a 3.5 inch cat back exhaust and it has more clearance then any off the shelf 3 inch exhaust

IMG_2245.JPG IMG_2246.JPG IMG_2244.JPG

blast pipe's at the moment its only tacked up im hoping to have it all welded up and painted tomorrow

the customer didnt want the exhaust system sticking to far out of the rear bar like most people like

he wanted twin pipes but still wanted it looking neat

Looks awesome man. I wanna tuck mine. It is a modified GKtech system with magnaflow mid muffler. Can these off the shelf systems be tucked well?

I personally would rather build a brand new exhaust system then modify some thing that's already made

The results are much better
