My F31 Leopard

Recommended Posts

Fwiw if you have the original vin on the car you could email rotate and get a copy of the import approval papers. Do a revs check and make sure it's not written off then goto a compliance workshop and get it recompiled and issued a fresh set of tags. Then you could drive it on the road again

Call me a *richard cranium* , who is rotate? I'm all ears

Ford motor?

*Unsubscribes*

Why not? Slightly heavier than a 30 , heaps around , large displacement , cheap, albeit quite aids.

dotars i mean, there the people that you need to see before importing a car into australia, they can give you the paperwork to say this car came in legally to be registered and pretty much allows it to be complied.

when it gets complied its issued an aus compliance plate. even though its been complied before theres no proof as you dont have the report from it or the tags so it will most likly need to be complied again. unless you know where it was complied last time and can talk to them.

well after talking to dotars you will need to call a compliance workshop to confirm 100% i know in nsw we could as we had a car come in for a blue slip last year and it only had the jap vin on it as he had lost the plates after a respray and he went and got to complied and it was all good.

if you have the aus imported vin stamped on the car it might be even easyer,

also if you have the vin it was given when imported, and it was regoed in south australia last then you can use this form

Going to have to do it the long way , no rego plates , not original motor , no interior. Going to be pushing shit up hill , but it would be worth it. Cheers for your help.

How is it old junk?

The cheap ba motors would have high k's on them and it's not hard to find a low k au engine.

Ba na motor has same rods but more compression.

Troll ebay and gumtree for a set of bf2 pistons and rods or typhoon you can get them for $100-300 amd they will be strong and reliable

conrods and pistons isnt what makes an engine good

and i dont know why you need so much displacment? a stock rb25 with t67 will pull 300kw which is more than enough for any factory gearbox to handle

So why is it junk?

Please explain, au bottom end is near identical to a b series besides the valve reliefs in the piston.

Still have the gurdle and 4 bolt mains on all but 1.

Rods will keep an engine intact though.

heads are an old design, ports are small, no vct, single cam.

and there's f**k all aftermarket support because no one uses them.

but by all means use somthing that no one else uses cause im sure it's gonna be so much cheaper and easier

i mean why else would no one else have done this before...

You live in a nissan world, I've owned/built 5-6 turbo eb-el falcons.

Head design poor?

Is that why they make 300+rwkw with gt35 on 12-14psi?

Anyway don't want to fill this thread with falcon crap so good luck with what ever path you choose.

Bit jumpy today? No one mentioned factory boxes , or saving money or doing something different. How ever you are correct about cubes making more power. Why not use a falcon motor ? Only slightly heavier than a rb , more cubes. Dinosaur technology ie- smaller ports , no vct and what not aren't really relevant. yeah the motor is old , but how does it differ from a rb30? Which is considered as a viable motor due to it's heritage of being fitted to a nissan chassis. I'm drunk and don't really care at the moment , few posts up i mentioned flaming ..... I expected it. Few people with closed minds really do piss me off , the car scene wasn't built on building cars that confirm to the norm , think outside the box......and get drunk.

Haha they're easy to make power, stock head stock cam an e series engine will make 300rwkw at 12-14psi depending on turbo.

Heads flow pretty well but dont have vct so must be shit

Yeah, supra box with titanium gear set with triple synchros behind a ea 3.9l with a centreline. Trying to decide if being banned is better than giving you an internet slap for being a negative *milkshake*.

Im a bit confused so correct me if im wrong but, after all this falcon motor bullshit + all the work to make it all work/ fit + that gearbox you want + the work to make the gearbox mate with the falcon motor and spending thousands of dollars on an ecu...

Wouldnt you just be better off going with a nissan engine to save all the headf**ks?

im not talking about an RB or an SR because the car came stock with a vq engine.. why not just buy a z32 vg30dett, that way you have a sick motor capable of decent power AND an already strong gearbox thats made to go with it? surely you could pick up an engine and gearbox package for around the same as what youd spend on all the falcon stuff?

as i said correct me if im wrong because i have no idea how much falcon stuff is.. but even if it was a cheap motor and you blow it and buy another cheap motor in my eyes the vg30dett sounds like a heaps better idea :/

Edit - Sorry, had a brain fart, thought the z32's engines were vq30 instead of vg30 :$ embarrassing

You live in a nissan world

Couldn't have said it better.

The Barras are quite literally nuts.

Huge online following / specialist workshops / aftermarket support etc.

A lot on here know nothing about them however because "we don't take kindly to their type round ere"

Go hard on one, very rewarding motor.

Simple is a good thing by the way, all that complicated shit beams listed is not always a good thing.

complex?

rb25, t67, nistune, rb25 box

real complex...

anyway enough shit talk, prove me wrong

Its a bit more 'complex' going from ideas to having it done. I'll get my hands on a 32 x member and dummy fit a short motor , thats not too complex i guess?

Don't ruin one of the few F31's we have in Aus please.

Completely understand , it's only a shell though.

Love fj's , bloody pricey though.

Starfire , haha , had a torana with one , reliable but thats about it.

And that brings us to the 1vd , wouldn't touch one with someone elses dick. Pieces of crap , better off with a 1hd , hell even a 2h would be better.
