Palmer wants to repeal all Newman laws

Recommended Posts

Federal MP Clive Palmer says his party will stand in the Queensland election and repeal all legislation passed by the Campbell Newman government if elected.

The Palmer United Party (PUP) achieved 11 per cent of the primary vote in Queensland, despite establishing itself just two months before the September federal poll.

"A bill will be presented to the Queensland parliament, which will be a simple bill, which in effect will have a provision that all legislation passed by the Newman government shall be repealed forthwith," he told reporters on the Sunshine Coast.

"So the message is, help is on the way, that we will get there, that we will obliterate from the record books the history of the Newman government."

PUP is represented in the Queensland parliament through state leader Alex Douglas and deputy Carl Judge.

The party is expected next week to announce a high-profile candidate for the Queensland seat of Kawana, held by Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie.

...i know a lot of Queenslanders that will be voting for Clive just on this basis.

Can anyone outline the terrible things he's done?

In SA I haven't heard or seen a lot of what's happening other than the anti association laws which in SOME ways don't bother me but I'm not sure about what else he's spearheaded.

Last time I looked, all of newmans car-related laws made speeding/burnouts/leaning on cars infinitely more punishable than drink driving, manslaughter, etc. Things like impoundment for first offences, penalties equal to fifth time offenders for DUI.

Ah we've had that for years with the Adolf Rann government for SA.

So hoon laws and bikie laws?

basically his vlad laws breach everyones basic legal rights, you can be locked up indefinitely without bail simply for being in the wrong place or wearing the wrong clothes. you can be locked up simply if the officer believes you are a member of an outlaw club, they dont need to prove anything. newman then made it so only the supreme judge could grant bail and bail could only be granted twice a day

have a look around, countless stories of people being harrassed and locked up just because they like motorbikes. in NT a war veterans club got raided and harassed....f**king war veterans

heres one example. 6 f**king cop cars

How has a veterans club in NT got anything to do with newman?

He also f**ked off a shitload of jobs in front line services of qld health etc, not too many people were impressed with that

I have no problem with a targeted war on bikies but upon researching the way he's gone about it it's bullshit tactics.

Just another Rann then in every way.

That guy said it best, QLD Police deserve no respect.

All 10 of those officers are implicit in that gross abuse of power, from the probationary officer to the stooge in charge.

Steaming pieces of shit, every single one of them.

if someone commits a crime, they should be charged accordingly. it doesnt matter if youre a part of a club/group/whatever, that should have no effect on the penalty for the crime youve commited. i fail to see why a bikie drug dealer should get locked up for longer than any other scum bag drug dealer

everyone should be penalised the same. if police are having difficulties stopping these criminals, then we have a policing problem, not a bikie problem

then we have a policing problem, not a bikie problem

We have addressed the problem ladies and gentlemen.

Perhaps a social and education problem too, aw hell, political and cultural as well.

Civilisation is a failure.

So.

Watching Child Porn is a $1000 fine, no criminal convictions...

Deliver pizza to some family members who are also bikies.

Instant jail, solitary confinement, 4 months until a trial. May as well be a terrorist.

NB: Not that I agree with bikies, their lifestyle or their culture. I just would like to input two completely different scenarios and two very different outcomes - which shows how skewed the legal system is.

Palmer's actually got quite a few decent ideas. Listening to his maiden speech the other night, I was quite impressed. Hearing this just makes things a lot better.
