Really stupid question

Recommended Posts

Well i just fitted my Gktech clear CAS cover and Gktech Billet Alloy Eccentric Throttle Wheel so thought id go for a test drive to the servo. When i reverse off my driveway on a bit of an angle the car creaks quite a bit. My stupid question is will this bend my chassis over time ??? Concrete cutting my driveway down is not an option as its not my house.

Buy a camel. Reliable daily. Easy fix

I hear they're really popular in Auburn.

Seems like he just wanted to say he's fitted a clear cas cover etc as it's got nothing to do with the stupid question lol

Ps- chassis are strong . A wheel comes off the ground in mine when I go up my driveway . Doesn't creak tho :P

Camel would be a mad daily .

Yes many have bent their chassis installing clear CAS covers.

Please beware

How tight were the screws on the new CAS cover? Maybe you tightened them too much.. :sex:

But seriously, the Chassis will be fine.

The S13's are getting older by the day..

1 Get some hard wood slats and make a ramp or some thick steel plates and put a chock under it or whatever you need to do to reduce stress.

2. invest your money into shit you need like strut braces, chassis braces new bushes etc instead of pointless crap like a see through CAS seriously.

3. Now go get your strut towers checked for cracks.

4. start parking in your own house

he might have bought the CAS for the same reason most people do - something broke the stock one.

I had a BOV that the previous owner put in a dumb place and it eventually wore through the CAS cover.

removed the bov, removed the smashed cover and put on the clear one.

doesnt really relate to the car creaking over a driveway though.

Alright sounds like i just stress to much, guess i'm not used to a car with coilovers. I'm too used to my camel

Rezzy_S13 - I've already got front and rear strut braces ;)

Got the CAS Cover and Billet Alloy Eccentric Throttle Wheel for a little bit of wank factor, just admit it, half of you guys have these fitted too

What do you mean it creaks? Do you mean scrape?

Nar it doesnt scrape at all, just a creak sound from somewhere in the back, must be from the stiff coilovers

I'm going to take an educated guess and say it's your subframe or worn bushes somewhere.

Chassis rails don't extend to the rear

It is the body twisting

Its exactly what was happening to me - my driveway is a killer and i had the same issue so to avoid this creaking i go in 2 point turn style which is a pain in the ass but it really doesnt bother me at all cant say the same for my neighbours tho

You need to blip the throttle heaps as you edge your way up the gutter.

Im just going head onto the gutter now when coming up and down the driveway and dont get the annoying twisting sound. Its a bit of a pain doing a 2-3 point turn to square up to the gutter when returning home but saves hearing that annoying twisting sound :Drugs:

DragCA18det - I'll wind the coilovers as low as they go, and the driveway can grind the chassis rails away. I will have to get a HellaSacked sticker though :thumb:
